Weight loss question

This could get confusing. The beer does not help.

I went to 205 pounds or so from 230 a year ago. Let's call the 230 pound days my lard ass phase.

I have since added some muscle.

Now the strange part. I am taking in the same kind of calories I did pre-dieting when I was in my lard ass phase. For the past week or two I have had issues with my eating habits. Not bad like my lard ass days but I think I am in caloric excess.

Now, does the fact that I have more muscle these days impact calorie burn? The simple question:
Does weight that comes as muscle require more calories than the same weight as fat if one wants to maintain their current weight?

reminder: beer night.

It takes something like 7-8 calories a day to maintain a lb of lean muscle. A lot less (2-3 cals/day) to maintain fat. In the end I don't think it's all too important since you likely haven't packed on anymore than 20lbs of lean body mass in the past year. What's more important is your total daily energy expenditure. If you were sedentary at 230, vs actively lifting and doing cardio at 205, that will significantly impact what your body does with the calories it's given.

As well you may be naturally moving/walking/exercising more at 205 and you don't even realize it... Just part of your daily activities...

www.myfitnesspal.com if you want to track your calories/etc. without too much effort

Thanks for hte responses. I have been buy for the past few days.

mple, Thanks for the calorie info.

I use fitday.com to track food consumption and my weight.

As for the video, I can't watch it right now. Will when I get a chance though.

The good news is that today, I am going back on my diet. Had a fun 10 days of little exercise and eating whatever I want to. Mostly amazed that I have not gained any weight. I fluctuate, but the high end of those fluctuations is is still 5 pounds less than 6 weeks ago.
