15 lbs is a pretty big swing for somebody your size. It'd be more likely in a 350 lb'er.

But... it's doable with fluids. At 215 lbs, I could lose 7-8 lbs with an hour+ of cardio. Your bladder might be capable of holding a couple pounds of fluid. You sweat some at night. You can pack your stomach with several pounds of fluid. Huge changes in salt and carb consumption can affect your fluid balance within a day or so. A good dump can approach 5 lbs.

I guess if you get it all coordinated right, you can pull off a 15 lb swing. To do that regularly without really trying is weird though.

Crazy bro . . .

I'd imagine you run those 3 miles at the end of your day. That would account for some of the weight loss over night. Hightend metabolism, dehydration effects.

Still, you'd have to be consuming a lot of food for a jump of 15 pounds. I would not take such a fluctuation so lightly if your telling me you're not stuffing your face every day, then, running it all off.

A blood types are some of the craziest body types on earth IMO. Still, time has shown me poor eating habit's are usually the cause of an unusal body weight for *anyone*.

I'd start looking into what foods keep your weight more stable, something's not treating you right in that diet of yours.

you and/or your scale fail.

no fucking shit....jesus...FIRST you eliminate the MOST likely cause...a shitty scale.

How do you do that you ask...simple...get a 5lb weight.....5lbs is 5lbs no matter where you are on this planet.

Dial your scale until it registers 5lbs take the weight off then step on the scale....*shudder* dare I say it....naked...*shudder*..record your weight.

Do it again 24 hours later...doing it every 12 or 8 hours introduces too many variables....food, water retention, a full colon..etc...so I suggest you do it BEFORE you eat breakfast and after a morning shit.

Track it for a week and check the results....you can then reasonably assume why the fluctuation takes place and I am willing to bet it has to do with water and food intake.

Ok so I don't get to see a doctor for another two months because I have no health insurance. Naturally, ATOT > WebMD because ATOT will tell you that your dad will get preggers from touching your man juice. Anyways, I always weigh myself in the morning and at night. Weight varies from 145 to 160. Sometimes I weigh more when I go to sleep than when I wake up and vice versa. I don't think I'm burning off 15 pounds when I sleep and I'm definitely sure I'm not urinating 15 pounds.

The scale can accurately pick up the weight of barbels within .2 lbs so it's not the calibration on it. I also weigh myself down in my undies. Sexy, I know.

I'm not really concerned because my overall physical and mental health isn't changing or anything like that. Is this normal? Am I preggers?!!? Help me ATOT, I need a diagnosis...and some time to waste until I need to start moving out of my apartment.

Things that may be (but most likely aren't) important:

23 years old.
5'11"
AB blood type.
Hazel eyes.
My left arm is 1/4" longer than my right.
Shoe size = 11
unpossible

Not unpossible. Hence the reason I'm asking you guys. Unless my scale can't read weight correctly over 75 pounds or I somehow can fuck with gravity, it's telling me I lose/gain a lot of weight when I sleep.

It's impossible for you to gain 15 pounds while you sleep unless you routinely swallow lead weights for midnight snacks. Your scale is probably screwed up or you're weighing yourself with heavy clothes sometimes. Doesn't matter that it can measure weights accurately unless the weights are close to your total body weight. It may be accurate in one range and inaccurate at higher weights. Go buy a different scale.

your 5'11 and only 145 pounds? do you starve yourself and then binge eat? sounds like your body needs everything you are putting into it...

Where exactly do you think the weight is going? So you go for a run, your metabolism goes into overdrive, you go to bed and....? What a ridiculous contention. Apart from sweating, it doesn't matter how hard your metabolism is working, the weight has to go somewhere. Unless you believe he is sweating 3 litres and radiating away 4kgs of mass through heat. Your body doesn't just magically "lose weight".

E (in joules) = m (in kilograms) multiplied by (299,792,458 m/s)^2.
E= 4 * 299,792,458^2
E= 359,502,071,494,727,056 joules
1 megaton of TNT yields 4,184,000,000,000,000 joules
359,502,071,494,727,056 Joules Released / 4,184,000,000,000,000 per megaton = 85.9 megatons of TNT.

Assuming you live in downtown new york, that would destroy everything:
North to Spring Valley & New City
South to Long Branch
East to West Babylon
West to the 287/78 junction

Use the scale on a smooth hard surface, ie not a rug.

The scale could be sticking or have debris in it. Test 1, get on and off the scale repeatedly (5 or 10 times) to see if you get the same weight every time. Test 2, move a little off center (front/ rear, right/ left) to see if you get the same weight. The difference between the highest and lowest weight is the best (worst) possible accuracy you are getting from the scale. This doesn't tell you if it is accurate, but it should read the same when you are near the middle.

It is common to have to stand exactly in the middle of a bathroom scale to get accurate weights. I expect that your scale is varying by 10 to 15 pounds.

The fluctuation is both water retention and the amount of matter in your bowels.

Its also possible that your scale calibration is getting messed up from fluctuations in ambient room temperature. Borrow a 2nd scale, and do your measurements on both each morning and evening. Let us know if there is a difference.

Nice  I considered doing the calculation myself when I wrote that post, but I knew one of you ATOT geeks would step up.

looks like the OP's epic dump approached 15 lb.

I fluctuate 5 lbs usually from one day to another. During the summer though, I can lose 7 pounds in the course of a morning (after volunteering for physical labour at a park, then walking to and fro, no meals between).

Even if it doesn't seem so, your shit, piss and lies, oops I mean hair, could be making up for some of that.

I suspect it's a combination of normal weight variation and an inaccurate scale at the high end.

The scale may not be linear, it may vary with temperature, etc.

It's entirely possible guys.

I have a friend that weighs 140 on a good day, 130 if he's broke. He stands @ 5'11 and till this day him and I both cannot figure out how to get him to gain weight without loosing it within the same week he gains it.

Back in highschool he'd continually challenge me to eat an entire large pizza with him, of which I didn't ever finish because I hate cheeze.

He'd kill an entire large pizza, then suck down another half a large or more that I had left over. That in itself put 5 pounds on him the very same day, like clockwork.

His father's visitation rights forced him to eat dinner with his dad both Saturday and Sunday. Sunday was our usual pizza day (football) and he usually had to go home and eat dinner with his dad after eating pizza with me.

I can attest to seeing him gain 10 pounds in one day. He claimes he got up to 145 one thanksgiving, unfortuneately, he was i'll the entire nite.

MoPho, what's your diet like? Are you eating like 3000 carbs a day or something???

You need to ask this question on a body building form where I'm sure you can find other's who can attest. In all honesty, if you're really fluctuating like this though, you need to get your health in order.

I run 2 miles a day and use an ergometer for an additional mile. Usually cereal for breakfast, sandwich/sub for lunch and then a heavy veggie loaded dinner. I've been cutting down on chicken, beef and pork over the past couple weeks but i've been doing it gradually, not all out.

Running 3 miles will only burn around 400 calories if you're lucky. A 5lb dailry fluctuation maybe, not 15.

I guess that's why countless American's say bathroom scales are horrible for this incredible variation alone and swear away from them???

The dude said he know's what he saw, that dosen't mean he's a fuckin liar. If he moves the scale 15 pounds every day, it's obvious no matter how innacurate the measurement, something's going on there.

I've moved the scale 15 pounds myself on one or two gortastic weekends, but not every day. I'm more worried about his health going through that, as you would be if you gave a damn.

I'd be more concerned about his health if I didn't think he was full of shit or just too stupid to use a scale correctly. And no, you have not gained 15lb in one weekend, there is no way. Why don't you go grab 15 1lb blocks of butter and put them in a backpack and wear if in your front for a minute or two. Tell me if you really think it's reasonable to gain that sort of weight in a weekend.
