Umm..nossir you are very mistaken on that.

Otherwise it would be "ok" to rob, steal, kill, adulterize.
However it seems we have rules in place to the contrary.

They have SOME similar results. They were not based on, inspired by or, intended to follow the ten commandments. This is not an either or situation. Can you think of any society, whether or not they've heard of or believe in the ten commandments, that doesn't have similar laws?

I think there was one, but it only lasted like a month. The last guy was heard to shout "Ha! Ha!" right before he died of his wounds.

the gold standard of ancient law and more well thought out than any laws of the ancient hebrews

The ten commandments are not secular laws and never were. God did not want to give the Israelites the ten commandments for two reasons. First, because it implied that if a follower obeyed each commandment, they would be assured of heaven. God's grace is NOT an agreement, bargain or, quid pro quo. Second, because God warned that humans are inherently weak and incapable of keeping the ten commandments. Moses begged for them anyway.

Sorry for the religion sidetrack, there's just so much FUD out there from both believers and non believers.

Oh of course. I just went looking and actually found one thing that would work, so I suppose it's technically possible, but I don't want a point so I'll let someone else post it.

Still have not read a coherent general argument about what gives my neighbor the right to decide what anyone will ingest in their own home. Clearly the law does and should prohibit harm done to others, but when we collectively assume the right to prevent people from doing things that might harm themselves, well, there is no end to what can be outlawed. So sad to see how blind people can be under the banner of "morality" and "wholesome values." Such blanket terms have been the basis for all kinds of abuse of power, and are a convenient rationalization used by meddlers to gain access to innocent people's private lives. Sick, if you ask me.

Well said Sir!
