Wedding rings: how much was yours? How much was your wifes?

We just got ours not too long ago for our wedding next year.

Mine: $30 (tungsten ring)
Hers: $2400 (full diamond eternity ring)

Mine was around $100; hers was around $400 if I recall correctly. The same week we got engaged, we made a purchase offer on a house. And, a few days later, she had a positive pregnancy test. (Life's 5 biggest events: being born, getting married, having your first child, buying your first house, and dying... we did 3 in the same week. 😛 )

Wife's was $350 for the set. Mine $50?
Eventually replaced her diamond with one from my grandpa's (free) so it has been "upgraded".

Closing remark: Neither of us even wear ours anymore. Stupid.

Hers: Engagement - $2700
Band: TBD

Mine: Band: TBD, probably around $1000.

I have no problem justifying spending a bit more on a piece of jewelry that I'll be wearing daily for the rest of my life.

See...that's the funny part. Platinum is a "luxury" item right? Well it's also pretty soft. My wife's platinum rings are ding, scuffed, scratched, ect. They look beat up on the bottom.

My 'el cheapo titanium band? Still looks good. And that's even with working with brick, stone, tile, power tools, ect.

Why pay more for something that doesn't hold up as well?

I appreciate the wear and tear a ring takes over time; it takes a beating, but still retains its beauty, much like marriage.

Mine was about $86 bucks, titanium, it has opened numerous beers for me in the 10 years ive had it on.

Hers, about $600, Platinum with some chips in it. The engagement ring was a couple of G's.

I think between her engagement ring and our wedding bands we are in them about $500. Neither of us actually wear them. I will if I get all dressed up for work or a night out, but day to day I can't stand jewelry.

Mine: $70 for a plainish titanium band.
Hers: $2800 white-gold, trio of diamonds, double band.

Like others here, her ring was paid cash, financing a ring is silliness, and if she had asked me to do that I would have broken things off (financial responsibility is an important characteristic in a spouse.)

But we both wear them daily, and I know I would be bothered if I noticed her not wearing it, and I'm fairly sure she would feel the same if I stopped wearing mine.

$600 each. Custom brush finished platinum band with 6 small diamonds inset around the circumference.

The brush finish takes wear very nicely.

Heavier=better

BTW-My original gold wedding band was thrashed after a couple decades. I replaced it with a cheap titanium band and have been wearing it for about 5 years now and it show zero wear. 😉

I have a palladium one that cost ~$300. Now, though, palladium has shot way up and I doubt it could be had for less than $600. At the time my wife's (white gold eternity ring with diamonds) was something around $500. The engagement ring was well over that, though!

Anyhow, I have been exceedingly happen with my palladium ring. I would recommend the metal.

$800 on both in 1993.

I felt I was being cheap then, but she loved hers and approved and agreed.

Still both wear those.
