I've never had to go through the agony of sitting with my wife to register for insanely expensive items that I would never dream of having any use for.

Your friends and family will think you're weird when you try serving them Thanksgiving turkey on a flat panel display.
Just pick out some nice china. A computer will be obsolete 10 minutes after you unpack it and two years from now you'll just sell it and buy a new one anyway. Fine china will last for many years.
Sounds like you don't need expensive wedding gifts.Originally posted by: OfficeLinebacker
We both would benefit from a nice computer.
In the original post I explained that we already each own a house so we have plenty of appliances, furniture, etc. She's been married before so she has the obligatory nice China, silverware, etc.
We're kind of reaching for things to register for. So far we've thought of a grill and some nice high thread count bedlinens.
So we're looking for other stuff.

The nice thing about a store registry is that they keep track of what people have already bought for you (if they do it right), so you don't get duplicates.Originally posted by: EyeMWing
You, sir, have my respect. You found and managed to tame a nerd chick. The best of luck. And your best bet is to have a little chat with each person you're expecting gifts from, rather than to do the whole registry thing. Perhaps bust out a webpage with some SQL and run your own registry with links to the shyt you want so they can't fvck it up.

If your really into that, what you can do is setup your own registry site. It would be a simple web-store type interface where you could enter the items you want people to purchase for you, then people would add them to their cart, and "order" them from your site. In reallity they're money could go to your paypal account or whatever, and then at the end you use all the money to buy those things. Yes its kind of cheating in terms of what a real registry does, but this works to get the stuff you want!
