Doesn't Windows 8/8.1 already come with Windows Defender? Wouldn't adding another layer create conflicts?

I can see it now: "Windows Defender has detected a Virus name BitDefender!" "Bitdefender has detected a virus named Windows Defender!" *system slows to a crawl as AVs battle each other to the death* :awe:

Windows Defender will disable itself if you install another AV

I am really liking BD Free. I have not tried out Avast in a while.
