This seems to be a good deal for peeps like me that always wanted to start a little crappy personal website but doesn't feel like spending $10 a month. Thanks AgaBooga.

No problem, I really hope this goes through well because he's a hard working person

And honestly, for the yearly plan of $6, you can't really go wrong and you aren't risking much, just $6 for an entire year of hosting!

This looks like a pretty hot deal to me! I'm gonna wait a few days to see how it works for you guys before switching. Right now I'm playing $4.25/month for 1GB Transfer so $5.95/year would be much better!

noob question: is there any limitation to having a .info site compared to something like .com?

Sweet, I get 1 year of domain registration and web hosting for $5.95!!! Definetly a hot deal for me! Thanks AgaBooga and MBony

EDIT: If people decide to use MBony's link to register a domain name with Name Secure, there might be a little bug. Luckily the admin at Telnap responded to my email within minutes . When you try to first change the domain name server, it may return an error message. You have to lock your domain name then unlock it. This should fix it so that you can then use the host names provided by Telnap. Btw, this is a bug on Name Secure's side.

Did anyone sign up for this? I've tried to sign up and noticed within the Paypal page the following: "Subscription Terms:
$5.95 USD for the first 12 months
Then $5.95 USD for each 12 months"

Sounds like it's only the 1st year that you get this service of $5.95 and the following year will be $5.95/month. Am I udnerstanding this correctly?

Can anyone advise?

I like to think I can read pretty well, and what that says it that it's $5.95 for the first 12 months, and $5.95 for every 12 month block of time after that.

i.e. it will never increase in price

"and even a coupon code for using paypal "

coupon code is not combinable with this special, I tried.

"I like to think I can read pretty well, and what that says it that it's $5.95 for the first 12 months, and $5.95 for every 12 month block of time after that.

I emailed them and they replied

"At this time we do not expect to raise prices, and plan on honoring the current ones, for as long as you stay with us."

So this looks pretty good. Got an email response from them pretty fast too.

Try that with ripplehost !!!

I signed up my wife's site last night at about 8:00 pm mountain time. Within 2 hours the hosting was ready. The deal is awesome. You get all sorts of features. Even a free forum. Easy to set up. Highly recommend.

I feel like nabbing this deal just because it's so cheap..

But it'll go to waste because I don't even have time to rebuild my current site :(

It's cheap and you have a year to start using it not to mention there is a way to get a free .info domain too in this thread. Personally, if I knew I might use it soon or in the near future, I might just get it and a domain

It was working fine for a while except yesterday people started experiencing that problem :(.

Order pages now open in a blank window. Let me know if they work now.

It works today.

I was able to sign up one yesterday, but not my 2nd one. It got hung up on the paypal page.

The one that did 'go through' yesterday is in limbo. Paypal indicates my $5.95 payment is completed, but I never received a receipt from paypal, or acknowledgment from telnap.
Will try again today.

I just want to caution everyone before jumping onto this. I am not going to say this host is bad, but I would suggest asking going on a monthly payment. I cannot tell you how many times I have done these things and then 2 months later the host drops! If this webhost has a VERY large client base I can understand that but if it's some start-up company I would doubt they last very long offering these prices. I personaly offer these prices at my host for $1-3 a month.

I would just ask him how large his client base is to make sure he can stay open ALL year. Like I said I don't mean to make this comapny look bad or the owner bad I just want to caution everyone from pretty much all the smaller one's that monthly is your friend. Yearly is something that should'nt be considered if you are new the web-hosting industry.

just my 2cents.

Just to clarify, I do own my own hosting company, I am very active in the industry and buy smaller company's that 14 year olds can pay for anymore, people who lost there host since the lost just did'nt pay and left the internet basiclly. Most of them were on yearly payments and man were they pissed.

But I could be wrong, even if it does die in 2 months, was only $5 heh ={P

I could be wrong but I think Devious has been doing this for a while on a smaller scale. If I needed a small site hosted, I wouldn't think twice about getting one of those packages. He is a well respected, long time member of these forums who goes out of his way to help people in here. With that in mind, I think he has earned the trust of most of us in here. While I understand your concerns SimsFreak, I don't think anyone in here has anything to worry about with this deal. Just my 2 cents though.

Thank you for your warning

I have been in this business for a little over two years and have a client base of over 200 clients, a significant portion of them being local clients and an AT'ers.

First of all, you being a host, you should understand that offering a sale like this would not be practicle for me if I accepted payments on a monthly basis, as account processing fee's and support costs, would make this sale no longer worthwhile for me. I have this special throughly planned out. :)

You don't know my business strategies, nor do you know my exact cost for these accounts. I am publicing posting, and promise to you that Telnap Internet Services will still be in business a year from today. I also am keeping this money asside so that incase that I need to suspend service 364 days from now, I will be able to refund everyone. Another thing to note, is that my servers are in the Equinix datacenter and in order to obtain them I have signed a one year contact for every one of them.
