If this webhost has a VERY large client base I can understand that but if it's some start-up company I would doubt they last very long offering these prices. I personaly offer these prices at my host for $1-3 a month.

I would just ask him how large his client base is to make sure he can stay open ALL year. Like I said I don't mean to make this comapny look bad or the owner bad I just want to caution everyone from pretty much all the smaller one's that monthly is your friend. Yearly is something that should'nt be considered if you are new the web-hosting industry.

just my 2cents.

Just to clarify, I do own my own hosting company, I am very active in the industry and buy smaller company's that 14 year olds can pay for anymore, people who lost there host since the lost just did'nt pay and left the internet basiclly. Most of them were on yearly payments and man were they pissed.

But I could be wrong, even if it does die in 2 months, was only $5 heh ={P

Thanks for trying to jack the thread, I'm sure everyone knows that they should research things and ask questions. You should know (since you own your own 'company') that part of the deal is giving it only in annual increments. You should also know that this company is used by quite a few AT'ers if you had done some research on it. Why don't you ask around and see if anyone has a bad thing to say about DeviousTrap's support.

If you're company is superior and offers better deals, why not get your own thread to speak for itself as well as other customers to come forward (like they have here) and vouch for your service instead of trying to steal potential customers away from this thread by using a scare tactic.

BTW, I am in no way affiliated with this company, just a satisfied customer.

Even though I'm supporting DeviousTrap, I have to say that SimsFreak is doing the right thing. He is making sure on his OWN that it's fine by making a post with all his doubts to which he received a reply from DeviousTrap

Even if he runs a company and mentioned one or two things that don't make sense, he's probably still learning like most in the beginning stages.

Both SimsFreak and DeviousTrap are doing the right thing IMO, one questioned the service and the owner replied giving his take on it, beyond that, it's just a $6 risk

He is a well respected, long time member of these forums who goes out of his way to help people in here. With that in mind, I think he has earned the trust of most of us in here. While I understand your concerns SimsFreak, I don't think anyone in here has anything to worry about with this deal. Just my 2 cents though.

Yes, he has. He has definetly proven himself, now he has to keep up his good record and he'll be just fine IMO

That's fine you can trash me, call me whatever. I just want people to understand that not ALL hosts are like this. Some will get you pay and a month later disappear. IF you ever switch to a new host resarch it first, don't look for unlimited hosts, they don't exist, it's not possible. I am not saying this host is bad, I might acually get a plan from there my self after doing my research. I was just trying to tell the new people that they need to look more into the host about features, how long they ahve been in business, how there site looks (on some occations).

I am in no way shape or form trying to get people on my hosting company's server. I just want to casution people before saying "WOW $10 a year, that's cheap let's go there!"

You make some very good points, I think what you're getting at is that you shouldn't have blind trust in web hosting. I don't think that will be an issue in this case because DeviousTrap has already established a background and experience, he is doing this web hosting because he feels confident in himself, otherwise he'd probably just stay with his current customers and not expand. In a way, this shows his confidence :D

Anyone who has been in the hot deals forum for a while now hopefully would know this but it never hurts to remind people that many fly by night operations go under relatively soon.

Do I need to have a a domain name first in order to sign up to this deal? I haven't thought of a name yet or signed up with a domain name server. Can I just get the plan and do the domain name thing later?

I was also wondering about the domain name. Lets say I choose a domain name now, can I change it later to something else or I am stuck with that domain name for one year?

And to add to this....

Can I buy it now, park it for X months, then get a domain, set it up, and still have a year left? :)

Poohbee - Yes, you need a domain name in order to order and get an account set up. Technically you can order now and buy a domain later, but you will need to supply the domain in the order form (before you buy it)

hoodaman - Well when you buy a domain name you bought it for a year, but yes we can change the domain on hosting account.

straubs - Not possible :(. The year starts counting from the day you order. You can expect a special offer from us probably for one week, every two weeks. However, don't expect me to offer the same exact special next time.

Man, I hope this service is as great as this forum states it is. The website is poor in terms of incorrect spelling, incomplete sentences, and unpolished feel--check out this excerpt from the TOS:
-------------
10. Uptime Gaurantee

Telnap internet services provides a 99.5% uptime guarentee. If the server uptime is lower than 99.5% 5% of your monthly fee for every additional hour of downtime. If the downtime goes under 98% your month will refunded in its entirety. This uptime gaurantee is only in effect if the problem causing the downtime is fixable and was preventable by Telnap. If there is a fatal server error, which causes a massive amount of downtime Telnap Internet Services will issue refunds at its discretion.
-----------------

That said, I will give it a shot regardless. I am putting a lot of faith in AT forum members because the website certainly does not inspire faith. I hope these issues are a result of the function of the service being stressed over its form.
Devioustrap, you will definitely want to address these issues ASAP. It definitely makes me wonder about the professionalism of the site management.

If that's all you found, I wouldn't worry too much...Especially since you've seen DeviousTrap posting in this very thread, and he seems rather professional to me.

I apologize in advance for this but... seemed the most loigical place for this since there are so many guru's posting in this topic. I registed the domain snedeker.info through namesecure. I got the service from Telnap stating: snedeker.info that was installed on 09/18/2004 has not yet resolved to our servers.

Primary:
ns5.telnap.com
205.218.66.88

Secondary:
ns6.telnap.com
205.218.66.89

Can someone help a noob and tell me where and what I need to do to get it to forward www.snedeker.info to telpnap?

Sincerely,
Snedman

.info that was installed on 09/17/2004 has not yet resolved to our servers.

Please check and make sure your domain name is pointed to the following nameservers:

Primary:
ns5.telnap.com
205.218.66.88

Secondary:
ns6.telnap.com
205.218.66.89

i try and change them and get an error 500 at namesecure ns5.telnap.com not resolved

Go to your domain registrar's website and find the area to modify your dns.

Then change the nameservers listed to those.

Where did you register your domain name?

To those of you experiencing namesecure issue, we emailed namesecure to find out what was wrong as the issue seemed to only appear with them...

Hi there -

We have had a bug appear on some accounts with the DNS. Try locking your domain name, and then unlock it. After that if you try to change the DNS again you should have no problems.

Thank you,
Rebecca

Thanks DeviousTrap will try now.

Well I hope I did it right. I forwarded to IP address 205.218.66.88. I assume that sends it to Telnap, and that it knows where to go from there.

At $6 I couldn't turn this down. I'm a noob at all this, but how do I install Fantastico? Isn't it supposed to be a icon on the cpanel?
