Take deep breath.

Repubs don't have a super majority in the Senate.
Now we get to filibuster Trumps crazy ideas like the the Repubs filibustered Obama's.

Of course we will and it could be a good thing in the long run. It may dissuade parties from taking the electorate for granted next time. Probably not, but just maybe this is a catalyst if people don't go all Chicken Little on us.

You are forgetting over 5000 of our soldiers didn't survive Bush Jr.
No one including Obama or Hillary wanted justice and accountability. The Party Faithful wouldn't have it any other way. Their deaths and the deaths of others will forever be swept under the rug, but few have any moral right to point a finger if they didn't hold Obama's admin and the Dem Congress to task for not delivering justice and not even trying. It might have cost political hay and lives aren't worth it.

Maybe next time will be different, if people can learn that is.

This is how people in failed states talk. "We survived (crap our parents unnecessarily inflicted on our country), so we'll survive (crap we are unnecessarily inflicting on our country)."
There is a bit of a survival bias going on, since the ones who din't survive it aren't there to opine on the subject.

So does this mean you are going the Chicken Little route and be part of the problem instead of realizing your own party's responsibility? Will you effect change or sit smugly and say "I didn't vote for him" and laugh?

Be a part of the problem or take ownership and call for sensible political reform on your side as well as the Republicans, or not.

If you're talking 2020...
Dear Democrats... find a young Bernie Sanders. You just saw how desperate America is.

With Harry Reid gone you might just be surprised how many "crazy ideas" the Dem's are willing to support. Congress has created for themselves an exquisitely feathered golden goose. I'm hopeful they're not dumb enough to kill it.

You got what you wanted, a GOP Congress with Trump president. No excuse to blame the Democrats for what happens starting in January. Now it's for you to "Make America Great Again" and for me to point and laugh when you fail.

We have all been watching Game of Thrones for years now, we have a clear understanding how this new government system works.

So you decide to blame everyone else. I'm not surprised. In your failure to take into account the thoughts and feelings of others, you elected Trump. I voted for Bernie whom you pissed on, crushing the only hope for reform, then did the same on your opposition.

Rejoice. You have reaped your reward.

I'll put you down for the "same old" that got us into this mess.

Dear Democrats... find a young Bernie Sanders. You just saw how desperate America is.

They made a mistake going with hillary and what they did to sanders. Trump is a man, by default he has the advantage. People think Hillary is a witch and evil but don't realize its sexist ideas that are at the root of those thoughts. Trump got away with everything Hillary is accused of and lies to people's faces with things we know are not true. But hes a man. America was not ready, at least not for that kind of female president. Hillary had too much baggage working against her. She's guilty even though shes not even accused of any crimes. She must go to prison with no criminal charges brought against her. etc.

Additionally, the things obama did pissed off evangelicals and others later in his term. The whole transgender kids bathroom thing was stupid. They were pushing away the religious voters by seeming to be against religious liberty etc. I realized trump could win recently when I heard WLC seem to promote him as the religious freedom friendly candidate and anti-abortion etc. Those people would actually vote trump for those few things, ignoring that he himself stands against many of their standards (i mean how many abortions do you think he himself has financed? he lies, he cheats etc etc. doesn't even pay taxes like the rest, yet still voted for)

Regarding surviving bush. Good luck with that one. The country is still wounded and a mess up now can make things far worse. I can guarantee trump is worse than bush. I think a lot of people will be surprised at what damage he causes, others will think its the democrats. Because he can so easily get away with misinformation, if he fails, people might not even attribute the failure to him.

So you decide to blame everyone else. I'm not surprised. In your failure to take into account the thoughts and feelings of others, you elected Trump. I voted for Bernie whom you pissed on, crushing the only hope for reform, then did the same on your opposition.

so you didn't vote hillary because of that? its not his fault, its yours. Sanders would have been a factor in a hillary government, now everything he stands for is going to be destroyed by a trump government.

There's a mass hysteria in USA lately... You always look for someone to blame! https://brutalist.press/posts/731/p...e?cab741=e94b261e-bf5b-4443-b1bd-10ac72a5045f I'm Austrian and really want to know - is it what America really scared of? Or is it just some disinformation? Enlighten me, please!

We are a fearful people because we are used to being on the top of the heap, but that never lasts. When there is inevitable decline people naturally are concerned until a new equilibrium is reached and turmoil accompanies this. See Brit history.

What makes things worse is instantaneous and ill considered commentary which proclaims "the sky is falling" much more effectively than in past ages along with the problem that well thought out responses usually take more time to formulate than sensationalist tripe.

I wouldn't worry too much. This is just the current times and we'll still have sensationalism beyond reason, however the more that people see the sunrise instead of the end of the world, things will calm down a bit.

Of course we will survive but that doesn't mean there won't be casualties.

Something no one is talking about is how a trump presidency has now legitimized the alt right movement. The Republican party is dead and the alt right has now taken it over.

It is ironic that the religious right helped elect the closest thing to an openly atheist president we've seen in two centuries.

I am not a populist. Not the Sanders type, and not the Trump type. I believe in a regulated and taxed free market capitalism with a safety net, so I voted for the best fit for my views, in primary and general, and I stand by that.
I will put economic record of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama against what you are about to see with Trump, any day of the week.
We are going to be reaping the fruits of your labors, not mine. I am not going to rejoice about it, but I am not going to sugar coat it either. If you voted for Trump or sat it out last night, you did it to yourself and to us as a country. Now own it.

So nice to see the arrogant among us get their noses rubbed in all their horseshit hubris and demeaning condescension. That aside, this is an amazing victory and I wish him the best.

You fronted a corporatist shill and a hawk who is not Bill Clinton nor Obama nor the greatest statesperson in history. You voted as you saw fit and that is your right. Just don't blame others for your actions and choices. You could have put up anyone and you picked her. That you cannot accept the consequences of your actions matters not. I could not vote for your sham nor Trump and that you offered a less stinkier version of fecal matter was your fault. I voted for a human being, my dog. Besides my state went all Clinton so nothing I could have done made no difference.

I did vote for the person who could have won, Bernie, as the statistics showed but you had to have "not Bill" and "not Obama".

Now you are going to sit back and blame me and Trump and everyone else and do absolutely no critical introspection, take no ownership? That's just what the Bush people did with Iraq. They circled the wagons and learned nothing. If that's how you wish to be, that is your right, but you earned what is coming by lack of judgement and by "you" I mean the Democratic party as a whole.

But I don't share your Chicken Little attitude. Maybe enough will actually stop to think how to make things better for everyone, minority or not.

We'll see.

IMO, our costs are rising and wages are not following.
This creates discontent like we have not seen in a long time.

The problem started nearly 20 years ago...people are not happy with the status quo.
