So if you watched "The Terminator" you'd start destroying machines left and right, huh? Because that is about as realistic as Bowling for Columbine.
BfC is filled with so many misquotings, logical fallacies, and misguided segments that believing it makes you an idiot.
LOL i honestly think most of you guys haven't seen the film, and are just going by what others say of it (and they have their own agenda). I'm not saying the film is 100% truthful, very few things in life are... but the msg is that guns and violence in the US are much higher than the rest of the world, including Canada which basically is the same culture as the US, and shares the same media... and the reason Moore proposed is because of the fear of blacks and black violence/crime (which the media likes to portray).
Can you refute the fact that people in the US are more paranoid in their own neighborhood and homes than anywhere else in the industrial world. That gun ownership in the US is the highest in the industrial world? That violent crimes, including murder, are the highest in the US per capita in the industrial world?
Why is that? Because the US has more guns! But why do they have more guns? Because it's easier to obtain guns... true, but Canada has their fairshare of guns too, yet the violent crime rate is MUCH lower. So he proposed that it's the disproportional number of black crimes that's shown on the media. This creates a paranoia, and more white folks pack more guns. But why all this paranoia? Because in multicultural nations, you're bound to have more violence against one another? But again look at Canada, which is MORE multicultural than the US, yet it's violent crime per capita isn't anywhere near the US. He then goes to show that this is the main difference between Canada and the US by showing how more secure Canadians feel, by showing how many people don't lock their doors, by asking Americans blacks that visit Canada how they feel when they visit to Canada, etc.
Is it a perfect film? No. There's obviously an agenda there and there's obviously some creative editing. But if you get so hooked up the faults, you're going to miss the message.
