i'm about to top 1000 private messages. what happens when you reach that? does it roll over to zero or are just not able to receive any anymore, or does the first one get replaced with the newest one and so on? (ex post 1500 private messages, only last 1000 are availble to read??)

you can get pm's but you cant send any, so you have to export your pm's to a txt file (tool for that, click export, save file to disk, and you are done)

You may wish to weed through your PM boxes for junk before you export.

Well aparantly the mods can't change join dates or post counts. I guess they can change custom titles and I dunno what else.

Are you an administrator or Moderator for the forum.

I am under the impression that there are two different categories.

Based on their (Mods) comments in this thread and elsewhere, they apparently do not have access to the internals; just what functions/tool sets Jason/Anand have provided to them to use.

?equivalent to super user account vs administrator in Windows?

/edit for spelling errors - should not type so late.

Is porchtalk your forum? phpBB and fusetalk probably have different limitations.

true
but this is such a serious issue that it should be in the hands of the fusetalk devs, zuni and co

anyone can have admin priviledges with a check of the box. i don't know if any of the mods do here, but someone here can change user titles and user names so i thought it would follow that post counts are also able to be changed.

i guess not?

In phpBB, post count and join dates are not able to be changed in the adminstrator panel. You have to manually change the log and this can create errors. In my opinion, to fix everything would take a lot of time and it might up even screwing up the forum. I am no expert but is just how it is on the forum I use.

How is this still not resolved? Unbelievable.

I agree. How can they not at least have join date corrected? And post count? This should be done already.

Seconded, and I didn't read through much of the thread so can someone list all the people affected?

It's not being treated as a serious issue.

I'm one of the ones affected by this disappearance. I had 16,700 posts. 🙁

It's just a post count, dude. Grow up.

nah, it shows how much u have contributed in forum and how much respect you will receive. no one will read what i have to say cause i have 100 post (or 1 post) but if i had 10000000 post, everyone will.

doesnt matter how stupid or smart what the person wrote =D

I posted a comment about this in the FI thread about tonight's outage asking if the admin's could use the outage to restore the accounts. I know that's probably completely unrelated to what they would use an outage for, but I figured it was worth a shot.

50 days later, I think it's safe to say this will never be resolved. Not even an official explanation or comment.

I have to say that I feel for these guys who contributed for many years, and now do not even have the modest token of appreciation to show for it.
I seriously don't think it has anything to do with being a little kid, or needing to grow up.
I'm sure they're all here for the fun of it, but still they've contributed a lot, and should be treated accordingly.
I suggest giving them at least some sort of respected status like "contributor" which will be similar to "Lifer" only without the post count or something like that.

If there won't be a resolution, can we at least have a reason? Look at the event logs, there has to be something FuseTalk has that records and stores what happens on a daily basis.

The Mods have stated multiple times that they do not have access to such info.

Why is it that people seem to have a hard time comprehending that the Mods are not the ones that control the site; just ensure the site runs halfway smoothly.

They should start handing out vacations for people that have a hard time understanding what has been posted over and over again.

When did he ask the mods for info in that post?

The mods don't have to be the only ones to answer, as this forum has demonstrated time and again.

Why are you being so defensive over the mods?
