Have you ever injured yourself installing/upgrading/tweaking computer hardware? I am happy to say, minus some scratches from the installation of a motherboard in my old case, my computer is not a health risk. My dolt of a friend, on the other hand, decided it would be intresting to stick his finger inside a spinning 120mm fan, that got a bit messy.
 
I sliced my finger wide open on a sharp case edge, while installing a floppy once. I still have the blood stained floppy drive. Now I look for cases that advertise 'no sharp edges'
It was an old gateway OEM case btw.
 
First time I tried to install a cpu into a motherboard (65c07 in an Apple //e) I found that getting the prongs lined up with the holes and applying appropriate, but conservative, pressure was important. I wound up "installing" the chip on my forefinger! 😀 It didn't bleed until I uninstalled it.

I managed to cut myself building six PCs in a row. I hate budget cases - they have really sharp edges...
Get yourself a lian-li. Rounded edges all the way, and fan guards a go-go.
 
My friend has a red modem now... didnt even notice I cut myself till I saw blood drops on his case. Still not quite sure how I didnt feel it, it was a deep cut.
 
Dont you hate it when you cut yourself and you don't notice until you see the blood? For some reason it never starts hurting until then... anyway, i've hurt myself trying to poke out the metal that covers the drive bays 🙁

It's always like that for me. I've cut a long gash run down the length of my finger, and I won't notice it for about 15 minutes.... by then my finger is just covered with blood and it's dripping all over the place and I'm amazing I didnt feel it or see the blood long before then.
It's off, but somehow whenever I'm building a PC I seem to forget everything else and I won't even notice the blood on my hand or hardware until I'm pretty much finished building the system.
 
I have little cuts all over my knuckles from putting stuff in and taking it out of my cases, all of which are sharp-edged in many places. I was putting a new CD-ROM in my sisters machine and I looked down and saw blood all over the drive. I had torn a small gash in my finger and was bleeding all over the drive and my shirt. Didn't even realize I did it.
 
About two years ago I was putting in a cd-rw drive for a friend into an old compaq. Well, he only had one drive bay, so I had to pull out his cd-rom drive. I'm not sure what compaq used to hold in the power cable on that sucker, but it was in pretty good, so being the bright boy I am, I figured I'd pull out on it with my index finger on the bottom, and pry it from the top with a flat head screwdriver. You can guess the rest, it came loose, and I impaled my finger on the screwdriver, causing a fractured finger and 2 stiches.
 
Those @%#$@! AT cases can cut your finger off! Damn near got mine... They're notorious for having sharp edges (Because they're typically old and less consumer friendly) and misaligned slots (Because standard ATX specifications were not yet around). These two factors make it nearly impossible to remove a card without killing yourself. My incident occured when removing an EISA card. It wouldn't budge (Large pin count + misaligned with the back of the case) so I had to push the card in a little from the back. The card popped in and my finger went into the slot where the card was. Blood was everywhere. The edges were LITERALLY as sharp as razor blades and this was accessible from the back, outside of the case! Thank God for slot covers or else we'd have a measurable percentage of the population missing fingers from this...
 
I had just bought some surplus EBM/Papst 120mm fans (all-metal buggers...no plastic parts) and was testing them on the floor before installing it. Being metal, the blades continue to spin for a while after you disconnect the power. Got tired of waiting and used my finger to slow the blade. But the fan was turned around so instead of catching the "ramp" side of the blade, I caught the edge 🙁

I think had the fan been spinning a little faster it would have easily broken my finger. Lesson learned.
 
as a matter of fact i was just inspecting an annoying humming noise coming from my k6-2 when i stuck my finger directly into the cpu fan. DOH! but to make matters worse as a reflex action i pulled my hand out of the case as fast as i could slicing my wrist open on the sharp edges of this stupid AT case. 🙁🙁 gonna have a hard time explaining this one to people.

Edit: typos....it's 5am and i still haven't slept after this long day.
 
I cut my hand quite badly when removing an SCA drive from a Sun E250 once.
That sucker was stuck hard there(slightly defective rails), and I had to pull really hard to get it out, only once it released, I cut my hand on a sharp part of the chassis, cutting a ~4-5 CM long and quite deep wound in my hand.

Bled alot, had to wrap several layers of paper around it and it kept bleeding for like 20 minutes, and left me with a nice big scar of my hand.
 
i can't work in my computer for more than 15 minutes without getting some little cut or nick. my case has rolled edges so i don't get cut on the case itself, but i get scratched by the corners of pci cards a lot. all of my friends have the same types of experiences, so we joke that you can tell a n00b by the lack of cuts on their hands 🙂. my girlfriend's case has some pretty sharp corners, and i've gotten a couple fairly deep cuts when working on it hurriedly. i work in a computer repair shop, and i've bled into an awful lot of old compaqs and ibm systems, all of which seem purposefully designed to harm the person working on them. considering that i am constantly doing something inside of my either computer or someone elses, i pretty much have small cuts on my hands 24/7.

(edit: i just realized something. when i built the P4 system that is in my sig, not only did everything work perfectly the first time (which has never happened before to me), but i didn't cut or scratch my hands (which is rare). man, that was a [dexter voice] good day for computers [/dexter voice].)

Back at my old job, I actually required some stitches for a deep cut right under the knuckle of my right hand. I was trying to yank off a stubborn power connector off a cdrom drive and slammed my hand on a pretty sharp edge. This was like within the first week of starting my job there... hehe.

I've cut myself a few times as well, and like somebody else stated, it was on a cheapo OEM case. No more of those for me, thank you very much.

The only time I injured myself was when I was trimming zip ties. I had my left hand too close to the scissors, and when the plastic of the zip tie cut, due to the hard pressure, it continued cutting and made a nice, deep triangle shaped cut into the meat of my left index finger. I had it under water and wrapped in a band-aid in about 15 seconds, though, so it never got a chance to bleed much or hurt.

Working inside my sister's computer is bad. Very cramped, with razor-sharp edges. Got a few good nicks from that. I've never stuck my hand into a spinning fan though; not enough to get any injuries.

Not so much anymore though; I've gotten quite a few budget cases lately, and they all have rounded edges. Heck, some of them come with drive rails and a fan hole in the side panel.😀
 
I am an auto technician and have cut myself on the job so much I dont even notice anymore. If my finger isnt laying in the bottom of the box when Im done Im happy. LOL

I have done the hurried fan mod with no guard trick before. After several nice burnins I finally got smart..
