Sorry to hear about the loss. Better sooner than latter. I am a little surprized tho. When I looked at your pic. It was plain as day that pup was sick. I love dogs good animals.

You did what you could. For what life he lived, he lived it being loved and fought for.

Please take solace in that, you're a good man trmiv.

+1 There will be other pups, but this one will not be long forgotten.

As much as it hurts now you might want to reconsider not getting another rescue. Our first rescue had terminal heart disease as well and it was extremely difficult to go through for us. We decided to get another rescue cat and a dog and they have been a blessing.

You gave him the best final days he could have asked for.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience adopting from the rescue society.

We currently have a basset hound, a pembrook welsh corgie and a tortoise shell cat all adopted from the humane society....

Other then a respiratory infection the cat had once we have been really fortunate with them.

My wife takes the kids up to the local chapter once in awhile to play with and walk the animals. I myself usually stay home because I end up wanting to bring half of them home I feel so bad for them.....

I normally don't admit things like this, but this made me cry.

I'm so sorry for your loss, its kinda like losing a part of the family. I had a cat that we found and adopted as a stray kitten. After about six months of fairly frequent vet visits do to things like urine crystals we found his heart had some major problems which is probably why his mother abonded him.

Thank you for giving the pup such a good life.

I like how you updated your first post. What really needs to change though is the second post.

Update 2/11

I'm sorry to say the little guy is gone. :( He started mild neurological symptoms last night, but we just figured it was just puppy stuff. Then this morning he was whimpering, but otherwise acting normal. We figured it was because of the bad cough he had. Once my wife got home he was a different dog. He was doing the "gum chewing," shaking his head, whimpering, crying, missing a step when walking, having a hard time keeping his eyes open. All the classic symptoms of the disease. One of his vets who initially diagnosed said this was the point to put him down. His other vet agreed, but recommended some other stuff we could try like anti-seizure medication and pain pills. We knew it was time to give up, we had tried so hard, done so much and spent so much money. We knew given the odds for this disease we were fighting a lost cause, and anything more was just us being selfish and doing it more for us than thinking of his own suffering. He was happy and well for a few days in there, but ultimately we couldn't beat this deadly disease. We're going to miss him, but this was for the best that we put him down.

My wife was with him when they did it, I simply could not handle it myself. I said my goodbyes to him, and left the room. We'll miss you Brody.

Very sorry to hear about your pup. you and your wife did the right thing. :brokenheart:

I'm really sorry for all that you've had to go through. Just know that you've done the right thing. Having been there myself, I know how difficult this is for you.

Give yourself some time, then get another puppy when you are ready.
