Yeah you are clueless.

size of the car isn't really a big factor in it. Going from a Neon to a Excursion may bump up the labor rates a bit and materials...but for the most part you still have to prep it all the same way regardless of size.

With paint you get what you pay for. Some can be totally happy with a $300 Maaco special, while others $3000 still leaves them wanting more.

Painting costs like shipping costs which get debated so often, have nothing to do with the price of the item getting it.

You also need to take into account removal and installation of old/new parts, the new parts themselves, and markup.

The labor cost I can see, but is the $400 just for the paint itself?

Again...the cost of the paint is separate from the worth/cost of the vehicle.

It's like postage. If it costs $15 to get a $0.50 part you have to have, that's the price you have to pay. The carrier is not going to care how much the item is worth they are shipping.
