There is no substitution. But OfficeMax has to have at least one drive in stock for the sale, which will probably be the case.

Hello fellow Milpitian! :) :) :)
More McCarthy Ranch people? Dammit :(

They aren't accepting phone orders anymore either, they are OOS. Just in time for any West Coasters to qualify for the offer (I got in right at 12:00) and they were OOS.

ROFL, they have to have at least one in stock, i know the store manager at my local OM and asked him if he had any in stock, his reply "havn't seen that drive in 2 weeks, and aren't gonna get it for a couple more at least" i just laughed.

Isn't that sort of a bait and switch tactic then?

Got it! I was 4th in line at the OfficeMax in Piscataway, NJ.

There were at lest 40-50 ppl in line and they had a cart with *maybe* 15-20 of the 80GB WDs available.

So, I don't think that there are any left at this store.

Good luck to all!

The drives made in Malaysia were manufactured on Nov 03 and and those made in Thailand were newer and manufactured 01-04.

Any difference between the 2, quality wise?

Anyone knows about this? I got the thailand ones.

I drove to the Piscataway OM, saw the big line outside, and then just kept driving. Good job in getting yours though.

I got mine here in Memphis. They didn't have any of the drives out on the floor, so everyone had to keep asking for them. In fact, there was no indication they even had the drive in stock out on the floor (like any of those little slips). They only had about 10 in stock from what I could tell.

Looks like they pulled it from the site. This morning I ordered this by choosing the "Order by Item Number" option from the home page. You could not find the item by using the search function.

Ad shows a Special Edition w/ 3 yr warranty, but the only stock in W Palm Bch was the 8MB cache 1 yr warranty ones. They did have about 15 though.

Futha mugga... I went at the opening hour and they didn't have enough drives in stock to accomodate the number of tickets they have around. Stupid bastards. A _lot_ of people ended up filling out a form to order directly. bleh....

On a different note, can someone explain to me their double-rebate thing? I found 1 page that you use to send in the rebate for $30 but where's the other one? Is it that all-in-one form on page 5 or something? I asked the morons over there and they don't even know how their own stupid rebate system work!

Hmm, not sure if this deal will work for me...
Managed to order one online, but it showed CBO (backordered) status, with delivery date 2/10.
Then, after I submitted the order, it showed in-stock, but with the same delivery date. It doesn't look like I'll get it in time to submit the rebate. If not, I'll cancel this order as the deadline approaches.
