i think i got lucky because our OM was remodeled a month and a half ago. he said during the remodoling phase some paperwork was shuffeled around and could have gotten lost. never the less, I am now trying to email WD to see if they can bump my warrenty up to three years, LOL. I guess we shall see.

My WD $30 rebate has been approved for weeks, just waiting for the check.

The OM $30 rebate was refused. I called and they apologized and approved it. I checked up on it on line and saw that it was being processed for $20. Called the 800 # and got very little in the way of assistance, so I called the Manager for the local store. He was very cool and told me to bring in the rebate check when it arrives with my documentation. He will give me the other $10 on the spot.....

Still waiting until I have the money in my hands, but I am hopeful.

HI All

I have never had any problems receiving my rebates until this promotion. The Officemax portion came as promised. After 9 weeks i called the Western digital part of the rebate. These people had no clue. After being on the phone with them for 20 minutes they said I'll be receving my rebates in another 6 to 8 weeks. If anyone has waited at least 6 weeks and nothing has showed up on computer tracking I would definitely give these people a call!!!

I've had an officemax kingston rebate go awal for 4 months.

I finally got fed up with the run around and called OM corporate... after 3 weeks of their nonsense, I finally got a rebate check X 2. Apparently the first one finished processing, as did the replacement.

I cashed both, and have no bad feeling about it at all... I figure my time and hassle chasing this down was worth at least that much.

I bought 2 of these drives. one set of rebates I sent to my parents house. Those both came fine. BUT

the other set were to come to my house. I got the WD $30 but the OM rebate was posted as $20 on the tracking site. I called, emailed, faxed/mailed paperwork....and after about 3 weeks of faxing and emailing it's now showing up as $30. I'm sure it will take longer to get that last $30 due to the fvck up on their part.

now if I can get the rebates on that CC 160gb WD deal (19.99 AR) that'll be the deal of the year.

Most people are competent enough to look at the thread creation date on the main page and see that the thread was created on 1/23/2004. First, no one really reads the rebate tracking thread that frequently. Secondly, this was such a big deal that a lot of people got in on that up to date information may help some fellow hot dealers out.

Quit your bitching...

OM loves using the wrong UPC label gig. I do as someone suggested earlier. The manager of the OM I go to said if I have a problem, bring it in and he will take care of it. I've gotten 3 of the infamous invalid UPC postcards so far for a variety of products from different manufacturers and he has taken care of it every time. The only thing is, then you have to wait an additional 6 - 8 weeks for the rebate. Why doesn't 20/20 or someone do a feature on rebate companies? It would probably be interesting to see their rented apartment or garage space next to the telemarketers desk. :)

If you're talking about the deal that was offered some time around Christmas, then I had the same problem. I received the rebate check from Kingston in about three weeks, but I'm STILL waiting for my rebate check from OfficeMax.

Here's the thing. OfficeMax is REALLY good about rebates. If you don't receive a rebate check for almost any reason and you can show them your paperwork, they will pay you the money themselves out of their cash registers. I don't blame you for taking the double rebate, and I've actually gotten a "double rebate" once myself. But when a company treats it customers so well, I kind of hate to take advantage of them, so in this case, I'm just going to wait for my rebate check instead of demanding the money from the store. :)

I got a rejection via email on both $30 rebates ages ago.
I called ages ago.
They appologized and approved the rebates ages ago.
I got my OM $30 rebate this week.
I haven't gotten the WD $30 rebate yet.

Got my checks in today. Got to go to the local store in the morning to get my $10 as the OM rebate only paid $20 instead of $30.

Amazing this thread is still goin round!!

Actually this was the worst rebate i ever got involved with. Office Max sent me their portion right on time.
After 10 weeks I called rebates hq to find out what happened to the 30 dollar rebate. They didnt have a clue!! After waiting another 8 weeks I finally get the 30 dollar rebate. Then the following day i get another 30 dollar rebate. I have no intention of giving it back either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At first I hated this drive. For some reason it made an annoying ticking sound. After a couple of months it has quieted down and is quite fast.

If the worst rebate experience I ever had involved making one phone call in order to get an extra $30, I would be one happy camper.

good luck to ya'll this is a nice enough deal and be sure to check with your local stores to confirm oos.

I am suprised how many people here seem to have never worked retail. If some guy is bugging me about a cheap 20 gig hard drive and I am busy with other stuff I may take a look real quick and if nothing is found, I tell them we don't have any. (wow, runon sentence).

I especially tell them we are out if I have another customer waiting for advice on something that cost a lot more or has been sitting on the shelf and is retail price.

Or maybe the dude was pissed because he gets paid 6-7$ an hour to work on the weekends.

I don't work retail now but I did in my high school years and that is the gist of it.

Also, I am simply amazed at the amount of hassle/work you guys go through to save a few bucks. I imagine many of you make 10$ an hour or more. If you just would have worked these wasted hours you probably would have ended up ahead in cash and wouldn't have to settle for just an 80 gig drive, damn

I am suprised at your post Huxley...

That's why we come to Hot Deals...to find the Hot Deals...an $80 drive for $60 off?

That's a super hot deal any way you pick it.

And yes I got my rebates a long time ago.

Yes...I understand a hot deal is a hot deal. IMO a hot deal is when you have a MIR or something else that is pretty easy to take care of. A deal that is not hot (to me anyway) is one that requires hours of my time at the store and on the phone to save 60$ on a hard drive. I would rather look elsewhere. That is just my two cents.

What hassel and small savings?
Maybe 10-minutes to fill out 2-rebates and log them into a spreadsheet to save $60 is $360 an hour and roughly a $720,000 salary per year.

Mybe 10-minutes more to call when they reject your submission makes it $180 an hour or roughly a $360,000 annual salary.

Besides, this is a deal site.
It's all about getting it for the best it can be had.

Not to mention that many people have had their jobs scaled back or been layed off.

Some have spouses or kids who don't want to see all your money going into a box that keeps you away from you family.

Updating an old sys to add life to it and put off buying the latest rip-off retail systems is good for the whole family. Junior's system or Mom's or Dad's computer addiction doesn't have to limit the family budget elsewhere.

Even a rich man/woman wants it at the best deal or at a better price than everyone else gets it. It makes him special and keeps him rich by keeping his money in his pocket. Throwing money around for flash is an idiots affliction.

haha, lol
