well, i'm done. See ya when it launches. If nothing comes out of computex despite "During this event, AMD executives and special guests will be introducing new, comprehensive details on AMD’s 2015 product lineup." then I really can't bother caring. That would mean no new GPus this year

Well, Acer just introduced this revolutionary product. This is definitely going to be a big seller, a major loss to AMDs APU division not winning the bid on this one. I guess Intel is inside of everything these days.

Not finding much on their GPUs from today yet either though.

Lol is that Ted? From Seth McFarlane's movie?

Back on topic - this just appeared on the AT frontpage:

AMD Confirms June 16th Date for Upcoming GPU Announcement

After an earlier vague deadline of Q2’15 and more than a few teases in the interim, AMD has finally announced when they’ll be revealing their forthcoming high-end video card.

AMD will be hosting an event on June 16th at 9am PST to release the details on the card, in a presentation dubbed “AMD Presents: The New Era of PC Gaming.” The presentation will be taking place at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, CA during E3 week, and happens to be where the AMD-sponsored PC Gaming Show also takes place that evening. This event is open to the public, or can be viewed via webcast.

I would quickly note here that at no point does AMD specifically call this a launch. And for that matter, the last time they held a public event like this – the Radeon 200/Hawaii reveal – Hawaii didn’t launch until a month later. In this case AMD has already committed to a June launch for the card, but at the moment we’re not expecting to see the card go on sale on the 16th.

Does anyone remember the day Tahiti reviews came out, an Nvidia employee tweeted "2012 is going to be great"? Then remember how Nvidia was telling hardware sites off the record after Tahiti's launch but before gtx 680's release that " they expected more from Tahiti?"

980 TI's release would have been - no - should have been AMD's opening to do the same. Instead we have total silence and no "leaks." I am 90% sure AMD's plan to release an uber priced card, if there were any, was completely spoiled.

Nvidia has literally been hanging it in AMD's a** on 28nm. GTX 680 spoils 7970. Titan crushes everything and sets a new premium price point. 780 TI is released days after 290x to retain the crown. 980 comes out and makes everything look old and broken. Titan X repeats Titan 1. Now 980 TI potentially up ends Fiji.

History is not to kind to Nvidia here. Both Kepler lineups are falling behind and in retrospect were not good value at all compared to AMD hardware. So more than anything the consumer was handed their butt by Nvidia, unfortunately.

I'm not thinking they delayed so much as they just have a crap plan and aren't really doing much to win people over. Their PR sucks

Its been rumored for weeks that AMD were going to show off their cards at E3, so they're sticking to that plan apparently.

Its honestly a good idea to me. PC Gaming E3 show would have more exposure then by themselves.

June 16th is a previously scheduled event slot and isn't out of line for a reveal. Clickbait "news" sites and forum rumor mongers hyped up the possibility that it might happen early at Computex, supposedly as a reaction to the 980 Ti release.

Of course, with all the people who seemingly want AMD's product launch to fail, if they HAD revealed it early, people would claim the 980 Ti forced AMD's hand, Team Green wins again, blah blah.

I seriously don't get the vitriol posted here and on other sites. We as the consumer benefit most if AMD's product is better than expected and forces price cuts. And does it kill people to not spend $650 for another two weeks? Lol.

How so?

My 670 was cheaper than the 7970 or 7950. My 970 was cheaper than the 290 or 290x...

All of those were great cards, but you are WAY oversimplifying the situation here. It really depends on what is important to you and when you purchased.

Your statement is terribly inaccurate and false.

That looks like a dual GPU with 4MiB of HBM each! Well, at least it looks like we are waiting for something interesting. Now, if AMD has something better than X-Fire for dual GPU rendering (for dual GPUs on a single PCB package) - that would really be something.

I don't see that at all... I see a single GPU with 4 stacks of HBM around it. Looks similar to that shot we got with the paste all over it.

All I'm saying is performance is not frozen in time, and for that reason I feel my Kepler purchase was in retrospect not very good. Fair? People that keep their cards for short periods and move on won't be bothered so much by it. You don't agree that Kepler has aged rather poorly?

I concur. Looks like a big die though.

Indeed it does.

Just looking at that, I can see how cooling it might cause some challenges. While I'm sure HBM does use less power than GDDR5, it is located right next to the die and will add to the power that needs to be dissipated by the contact at the GPU. With GDDR5, it was spread around the PBC.

i wasnt going by what news sites were saying. I was going off AMDs computex conference site.

It also seems like they really should be leaking some minor details or good details to keep interest. A lot of people were hyped about computex and they gave barely anything. Hope someone gets a real good look at the chip at some point and publishes news.
