Really? He killed someone (or seriously injured at least) someone because he saw a gun even though it posed no threat to him. Sounds like if he didn't have a gun no one would have been shot.

A weapon pointed at me is a deadly threat and will be met with deadly force.

you seriously have no idea what "posing a threat" means

A gun in a holster is something to watch but it doesn't pose a direct threat.
A guy waving a gun around IS posing a threat, at any moment he could point it at you and pull the trigger. You could LITERALLY be dead within three seconds in such a situation.

Responsible gun owners do not brandish. If you brandish (which is a crime), you have to be prepared to accept the consequences, which may include but are not limited to:

- Getting your ass beat by some cops
- Having your gun, car, and other shit taken away to pay fines
- Being thrown in jail
- Getting shot

A lunatic following you, causing a dangerous road condition and finally confronting with deadly force is not the wild west, it's the actions of somebody with anger issues and was met accordingly.

This is a polite society, when a lunatic threatens your life you politely take his.

Hold on there skippy. It seems the shooter isn't quite out of the woods yet.

Willoughby said the information from their investigation will be presented to a grand jury which will decide if charges should be filed.

And there is NOTHING polite about shooting someone.

You are correct - Just with the addition that a Grand Jury is standard operating procedure, and whether (one) ends up in front of one isn't supposed to imply guilt.

First rule of gun safety - do not point guns at anything you do not intend to shoot (destroy).

Therefore if a gun is pointed at you the person is either a moron, and could potentially accidentally shoot you, or they intent to harm you.

I was under the impression (from the OP) that the guy "Showed the gun to the other people) rather than aimed it at them in some kind of threatening manner. If neither of them had a gun, this accident wouldn't have happened.

Politely fixed for you...

PS. when it is common curtsey to bold what you amend, so people don't take it out of context (See Koran thread).

Good thinking, I shall do that in future.

P.S. I own some chocolate

Good rules. Evidently people are too stupid to follow them.

This is why people are not capable of owning guns safely. People are morons.

Maybe he found the gun on the road and thought they dropped it and was only trying to return it.

You have to Remember rule #1.It is always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6

Maybe he did, either way no one has the right to execute him.

Oh hey look, a thread about guns that is fucking ruined by neckbeard.

Never would have guessed it.

Oh key look, a thread that HAL9000 has posted in is being trolled by nick1985.

Never would have guessed it.

So true. In the past year I've heard of several people who killed themselves or others accidentally because they weren't smart enough to follow the most basic gun safety rules:

- Finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot
- Do not point at anything you do not intend to destroy
- ALWAYS assume it is loaded

Some dude killed his girlfriend while they were acting out a rape fantasy scenario and he shot her. People shoot themselves with guns they think aren't loaded because they don't check first and think pointing the gun at their own head and pulling the trigger is funny or some shit. It's so stupid.

It's not that hard to be a responsible gun owner but people can be extremely stupid.

If you wave a gun at someone, you should expect to get shot.
Same rules with everything. Don't pull a knife on someone unless you're seriously 100% ready to stab them with it.
The funniest is the tough guy who doesn't actually want to fight. Not weapons, just fists I mean.

Probably because it is. I would laugh my ass off if some guy shot himself in the head right in front of me (unless I personally knew that person; that would just be tragic).

So a gun pointed at you by a person with road rage isn't a threat? Grow up.

A brandished gun is an immediate and lethal threat. Of course, the cops in the UK don't even carry guns in many cases, so I guess it's reasonable to assume regular civilians like yourself understand even less.

Jesus! How do you act out a rape fantasy with a loaded gun?! Insanity.

People shouldn't be able to assume and kill. People should not have the right to kill people because they assume there is a threat. If none of them had guns this wouldn't have been an issue and no one would have been shot.

He should still understand the scenario.
Some chav pulls a knife --> you can knock his teeth out with a baseball bat or any other object available

(1) How are you supposed to know that that random, angry stranger who followed you off the highway and is now brandishing a gun at you doesn't really mean it?

(2) Short excercise: Point your index finger at a nearby object, and then say "bang". Repeat several times, so you have a feel for the amount of time that motion takes.

(3) Consider, then, what you might possibly be able to say to (example #1) before he can accomplish (excercise #2) in the amount of time it takes to perform (excercise #2).

(4) Knowing how quickly (example #1) can perform (excercise #2), are you now inclined to ask (#1) questions? Or do you draw your own weapon and try to preserve your own life?

People shouldn't be able to assume and kill. People should not have the right to kill people because they assume there is a threat. If none of them had guns this wouldn't have been an issue and no one would have been shot.

So if I put a knife to your throat but don't slice, you have no right to lethal self defense. After all, you don't know that my intent is to kill you. 🙄

An assumption is what gun control advocates make when they call the cops over seeing a holstered gun. A pointed gun is an immediate lethal threat. Asking the man politely if he intends to kill you is laughable.

Grow up. Strangers are mean sometimes and at your age there isn't always an adult for you to call.
