In case anyone else is having the problem:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/243470/discussions/0/540744934649827373/

One of my TVs doesn't report the input resolution so I noticed the issue only on another which will report the input resolution. BTW, how in the heck can Panasonic make a TV that I cannot access the input resolution through any menu or "display" function?

Edit: I was wrong the "recall" button on any Panasonic TV will show it.

Also make the gamerprofile.xml read only or the game will change it back.

the only weird thing that happens to me with the mod is inside buildings, while it's raining and overcast outside, it becomes sunny indoors like it's a bright day. And then, in buildings at night, you really can't see anything at all. And you walk outside, you'll see the interior is lit by lights all over, until you go in, then there's literally no lights again.

on my 770, putting the res to HIGH instead of ULTRA made the stutter go away, mostly.

and yes, the rain and other water effects look amazing.

damn... played for hours, and then pc crashed. Now saying it's not synced up with my last save. Guess I just lost all that saved game

I've had crashes but thankfully it never lost my save. Hopefully it doesn't start up with save issues.

The game still stutters for me.

what's a good way to save your savegames? basically the 4 hours i've played were lost. Thankfully, it just reverted back a day as if I hadn't played... (all I did was capture all the ctOS towers, and played through the side missions of criminal convoys (annoying when you can't just kill everyone... especially the cop convoy)

There's a bunch of save files in my ubisoft launcher folder. They aren't named but rather go by number. I have no clue which ones are for which games.

Well I guess it's not surprising the thread is appearing further back in the listing (in descending order) considering complaints about the gameplay and glitches. I'm still into this game because of mods that enhance the graphics. So once I got access to the whole city I stopped playing the missions and got obsessed with the "E3" graphics modding releases.

I'm not posting in it as much because I've finished the game and moved on. There are still side missions for me to complete that I go back to occasionally and work on, but I've finished the main story so my interest in talking about the game has declined.

Has nothing to do with the "problems" people keep talking about.

This game really hasn't caught on. Personally I had a lot of fun and would play through again after a couple of patch fix the memory handling of this game.

I got over the stutter because I figured out how to make it relatively uncommon and also got used to it. It had an okay story and was really a fun game. The gang hideouts were great.

But I think the day one issues really soured a lot of people to this game. As it stands the metacritic user review is 4.8. I think its a far better game than that. Also I think there is no reason this couldn't have been a GTA level hit.

I suppose releasing the game broken doesn't help at all and low reviews based on that discourage purchase. But do you think that was the primary reason this game ultimately doesn't have the following of a GTA game? What other factors do you think caused this?

I was hoping this game would have a following at least until the end of the year but it seems nobody cares for it 2 months after release.

Its a ubisoft game. For some reason we forgot that it would be broken drmed mess. We have all come to our senses, got burnt and hopefully will learn from our mistake.

Its an OK game mirred with technical problems and scandals over its graphics downgrade. If the game was great people wouldn't care, but despite the trailers its a game we have all played before. Nothing really novel. So people have abandoned it.

I thought the hacking and stealth aspects were different from GTA. The Gang Hideouts can sometimes be done without firing a shot. It was different enough like Sleeping Dogs was different enough.

Although I can see how someone could say that the whole game was a variation on 4 mission types - that's including all side missions. The game was also very easy. You leveled up pretty fast and the level ups really made an easy game even easier.

Spoiler:

There were somewhat hard levels like the Cabrini Green level. And that level was very memorable as it was amazing to be able to go inside. It looked just like a documentary I watched on Cabrini Green. Those buildings were modern day forts. Police had no power at all in there. There was no way to control those buildings short of a PR nightmare.

Also I thought the game looked great. Better than any any other open world game yet. I think only Crysis 3 can top it .

I still have to finish watch dogs. I do play it at times and it doesn't get boring for me. I like the ability to hop in and out of online easily. I didn't get the pc edition so I'm not sure about all the bugs.

It offered enough variety from gta and i hope that they will improve on it for the sequel. I just don't want another assassins creed series. The AC games are fine but up until now I'm sick of them.

so what's the verdict on this game? I have a redemption code from nVidia. Is it worth playing or ebay it for $20+?

Spoiler Alert!
If they hadn't killed Clara, I'd be clamoring for the sequel. I liked her, I just don't care about Aiden. They could replace him in the sequel and I'd be fine with it.

I'm still going to pick up the sequel and reasonably priced DLC if it looks interesting... the cyborgs taking over the city sounds a little ridiculous, I'll eventually pick it up. Hopefully it'll go on sale for a buck or two during a Steam sale.

It's a fun "gta" style game... but has very limited options in what you can do when compared to GTA IV [and probably GTA V]. I often found myself wanting to do... MORE... than what was available to me.

Yea it doesn't have the things like bike riding or taxi missions, etc like gta does. But in gta v I only did those once to check them out and then not much after that. You couldn't really buy anything but properties in gta v but by the time you earned all the money you finished the game and there was no point.

Can't say I cared for Aiden either. In fact none of the characters except Jordi really stuck with me. And even Jordi was such a caricature. The story was just enough to not get on my nerves as cut scenes were short.

I got the deluxe edition so I got 3 additional missions which were fun. I'll get some DLC when it goes on sale. I think they could actually make some actual new missions in the game world. I'd imagine that a $10 DLC to create maybe 2-3 missions is a good return on their time considering the whole game world already exists.

Can't really buy anything in this game either. I got a lot of money but nothing to spend it on. And getting money in this game is just too easy.

Truth, there's very little use for money here. I've had all the best weapons for a long time, and I don't need to have every single car available to me... just the few I like.

Lmao call me stupid but for the longest time I never upgraded my ATM hack boost, and kept wondering how everyone got to $100k plus so quickly when all I was getting was $200 per bank account hack. :D

Sleeping Dogs is, like Watch Dogs and Saints Row etc... trash compared to GTA.

I really didn't enjoy GTA 4, yet I really enjoyed sleeping dogs, I ended up buying pretty much all the DLC for it. I also prefer Watch dogs to GTA4, but its not as good as sleeping dogs IMO. I prefer the hand to hand batman like combat over guns and stuff with a controller, its just more entertaining. I also liked the story of sleeping dogs, it was far less ridiculous than WatchDogs and GTA was. I don't know somehow I found it more believable and less overdone.
