I'm glad you didn't have a problem, but I experience constant stuttering everywhere except the main menu and that makes the game unplayable. Doesn't matter what resolution or graphics settings I choose. Low, Medium, or High it still stutters the same, and by stutter I mean it freezes for a good 5 seconds before moving again, and then a few seconds later it does it again.

Do any other games do this? Are you overclocking? Latest drivers for gpu? Are you running anything else in the background like a demanding anti-virus or something of that nature ?

No other games have issues. No overclocking. Latest Nvidia drivers (GTX 760). Nothing running the background.

Saw a post online that suggested not using full screen, which actually did stop the freezing, but only for a few minutes (I actually made it through the intro cutscene without a freeze!) before it started the same stuttering.

Thats weird usually if it is freezing for seconds at a time it would mean the gpu drivers need an update or if it was doing it in other games or apps could be an unstable system. Try uninstalling drivers, booting to safe mode, use driver cleaner, and reinstall the new ones again ..if you haven't tried that.

Personally, I try to avoid all hype. I didn't even SEE Watch Dogs until March or April. It's when you start looking for information on stuff that you're likely to get let down badly. Don't feed into your own anticipation, and the hype doesn't get to you. I haven't been disappointed by a game in years because I don't let myself get worked up 6, 8, 12 months before launch.

The one exception was being impressed by The Division and that just ended in disappointment about the pushed-back release date.

I think the freezing and then its fine is actually hard drive loading of assets. I only really saw it in vehicles but the hard drive is getting hit pretty much constantly by the game and if it isn't very fast I suspect that could cause this problem.

Yeah, I'd try disabling the page file if you have enough memory, or use the -disablepagefilecheck tweak if you don't want to disable the page file in Windows..

That could force the game to use more system memory, which should make it run smoother.

Is there a better way to get to the weapon wheel. I hold down the LB button to open it and then spend an eternity trying to select the right weapon with the right thumbstick. I have failed missions because this is so unreliable!!!

Got an Intel SSD with 8GB of RAM...

Ubisoft acknowledges that it's a "known bug" so I guess I just have to wait for a patch.

Really? Most encounters only require 2 weapons, MAYBE 3. I know pistols are up, ARs are right, snipers are down, and shotguns are left. So, I have my wheel set to my desired gun for the encounter--at the end, it was a Chrome pistol (Spec Ops 1911 if stealth was need), Piledriver shotgun, Destroyer sniper, and the big LMG at AR.

So, if I wanted the shotty, I'd quickly hold LB and hit left on the stick. Really, you don't even have to see the wheel. Give it a quick press-and-hold, while pushing left on the right stick, and the gun comes out. It takes maybe half a second. Maybe it just takes practice, or maybe you're more of a rush player than I am. I tend to stay a bit back until the last 3 or so enemies, then I get the Piledriver out and use cover to get them down.

I've got the "loading" screen bug now. When I select "continue" from the menu it begins to load, but stops at about 80%-90% and never goes any farther. I've heard it suggested that I should remove the game and reinstall it, but given the myriad of other problems ubisoft has to fix with this game I thought a patch would be coming out pretty soon. They've really been dragging their heels on that front though. As it is I've moved on to Dead Rising 3 and am having a blast with it.

Gta 5 pc is announced. Now no one will care about watch dogs in a few months.

Many people already played GTA a year ago though.

GTA won't sell nearly as well on PC as it will on ps4 and xb1. I know a few people who sold or traded in their last gen stuff right around the time gta5 came out because they didn't want to wait for ps4/xb1 launch and get poor value for their old system. They never got to play gta5 but may now.

I think you'll be shocked how well it will sell on PC. I'm sure it will be up there with the PS4 and XB1 versions in sales.

This game is a joke. Every other game runs fine. I even reinstalled windows on account of this joke. It even stutters on 2 frame VSYNC. It's a joke. Those people better release a patch because this is too much even for a day one release. Idiots built the game on PC and couldn't build it to not stutter like a pure joke. It can't even do 30fps without stuttering. Joke. I've even begun to realize Ubisoft is worse than EA.

Turn off ultra textures, turn it to 1 frame ahead, turn vsync off. I did that and it ran between 65-70fps with the very, very, rare dip to 55.

Your GPU is lacking. I had similar issues when I exceeded my VRAM (3GB) when I used ultra textures + AA. You need to set it lower to fix the stutters.

If textures are not ultra they look like something out of the PS2 circa 2005 . . . .

Well considering 2014 is the year of the PC, I think GTA V will do pretty good in terms of sales. Nowhere near PS3 or 360 sales, but I think it will do better than GTA IV.

Hey guys, I completely fixed my stuttering! :awe: Granted my stuttering was never bad to begin with, but I think I found a software conflict that was causing my problems.

It was my damn keyboard software. I have a Logitech G19 keyboard, and after I recently updated it, my stuttering has practically disappeared!
This might sound strange to some of you, but anyone that has owned one of these keyboards knows they can cause issues with games at times (Metro Last Light for instance before they patched it), especially newly released games like Watch Dogs.

Before I was using Logitech software 8.51 for my G19 keyboard. Then I updated to version 8.53, the latest version, and now my game runs MUCH smoother!

So if you're running Logitech software for your keyboard or mouse, I highly recommend updating, or even disabling it just to check if it could be causing performance issues with the game!

Oh, and another friendly tip that can result in a large increase in IQ if you didn't do it. Reduce the game's brightness setting! For whatever reason, I didn't touch that setting when I first configured the game so it was left at the default 50%, which is way too bright. Now I have it at 20%, and the game looks much better especially in day time. The excessive brightness really reduces the amount of texture detail and color tones..

Glad you got yours fixed, but no luck with mine. I don't have a Logitech keyboard, just a standard Dell USB one. My textures were already at medium which is the lowest they'll go. I've tried every frame sync option, no luck.

I'm usually pretty lucky when it comes to bugs, but I guess you can't always be lucky...

That's not a true statement across the board. My video card has 2 GB of memory, I'm running at 1080p with Ultra textures and AA and I don't have this "stuttering" issue people are talking about.

I don't believe this because with ultra textures the game is unplayable at times on my overclocked SLI setup and 2GB even with no AA applied at all.

High textures runs perfectly fine and I finished the game that way. It looked alright to me and I saw no noticeable drop from ultra. Would I have preferred to run ultra? Of course.
