What I might like that is due on launch:
Watch Dogs (delayed now)
Knack
Killzone (possibly even though it's a shooter but at doesn't look like a dude bro shooter, not sure)
Dudebro/rehash/cheapshit-franchise-multiplatform-shovelware-that-weve-seen-100-times-on-every-console:
Call of Duty Ghosts
Call of Duty Ghosts Prestige
Call of Duty Ghosts Hardened
BattleField 4
NBA 2K14
FIFA 14
Need for Speed
NBA Live 14
UFC
Injustice (movie/superhero license)
Just Dance (casual partyware)
Surprised there isn't a Spongebob and Wheel of Fortune announced yet
None dudebro but don't care about:
Lego
Assasin's Creed (possibly but it it looks like it turned into another dude bro shooter...dual gun wielding pirates with super powers yo!)
AAAAannnd that's it. Anything else that could be good is due 2014.
It doesn't get much more dude bro than shooters, UFC, sports, and Fast and the Furious inspired club street racing games.
And this is PS4 not even XBO.
You have to keep in mind I was spoiled in previous generations, games of the quality of The Last of Us are pretty much expected to be the norm.
How is Assassin's Creed not "dudebro" at this point? It's becoming the poster child for it: Over the top set pieces, over-the-top action/QTE/Highlighted objectives garbage, goofy ass stories and characters, etc. Not to mention the not at all subtle homoerotic commercials, panning over some sweaty, tattooed pirate's body. No thanks.
"Dudebro" to me, just means games that go after the lowest common denominator, usually through low hanging fruit of ultra simplified gameplay, 'purdy' visuals, or both.
That doesn't mean they suck. They can be a total blast, in short bursts, but they're usually less than satisfying for more jaded gamers who've been playing awhile, and aren't blown away by something else blowing up after the QTE.
