You have to keep in mind I was spoiled in previous generations, games of the quality of The Last of Us are pretty much expected to be the norm.

How is Assassin's Creed not "dudebro" at this point? It's becoming the poster child for it: Over the top set pieces, over-the-top action/QTE/Highlighted objectives garbage, goofy ass stories and characters, etc. Not to mention the not at all subtle homoerotic commercials, panning over some sweaty, tattooed pirate's body. No thanks.

"Dudebro" to me, just means games that go after the lowest common denominator, usually through low hanging fruit of ultra simplified gameplay, 'purdy' visuals, or both.
That doesn't mean they suck. They can be a total blast, in short bursts, but they're usually less than satisfying for more jaded gamers who've been playing awhile, and aren't blown away by something else blowing up after the QTE.

You can't rationalize something stupid.

The term "dudebro" gets applied to anything exdeath doesn't like or appreciate. We call that arrogance (mixed with ignorance in some cases).

Just because people enjoy things you don't like or you do not want to play doesn't make them stupid. Just choose not to play it and move on.

Dudebros still salivated and preordered 3 while high fiving other dudebroskis who also preordered it as if it was going to be the best thing ever. They still get excited by it.

I'm actually starting to think that exdeath just has no friends. He seems to hate anything that can be played with other people. That's a little sad.

Borderlands, Portal 2, Starcraft, WoW, etc of course WoW got Activisioned so I quit playing half a decade ago.

Left 4 Dead is an example of a cheap thrill no substance multiplayer game that plays almost exactly like all the other shooters but isn't dudebroed out.

Some of the games you label dudebro in your post have a lot of changes to them from the last iteration. Battlefield especially with spotting mode and adjustments to the speed at which rockets travel to the engine itself getting overhauled. It is more than just new maps. The game has adjustments in many areas. Sports games are notorious for being remade year after year but the 2k games seem to suffer less than ea titles from this. I wouldn't call some of them a rehash.
 
This news sucks. I'll gladly wait for plenty of good games to be available before diving in to next gen. My backlog of current gen is long enough it should hold me over. Oh well.

Exdeath hates on any games he doesn't like. He does it in every gaming thread so it's nothing new. I love RPG's but it doesn't stop me from loving dude bro games. I also happen to love God of War.
 
Yeah I suck. Should have just left it at my first post about how Watch Dogs was #1 of 2-3 interesting games available on launch and not responded to replies...
