Hearing Date now set

U.S. Army Forces Command said an Article 32 preliminary hearing into the two charges would take place on July 8 at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas

An Article 32 proceeding is similar to a grand jury investigation under civilian law, and the appearance would be Bergdahl's first before a court since being charged.

Attorney Eugene Fidell, who is leading Bergdahl's defense, has said Bergdahl was not trying to desert when he left his post but instead was trying to locate the nearest general officer so he could report a disturbing situation.

Another spin again - did he expect that a Star would be in the local village?

What does the GOP have to do with his (accused) desertion

Obama brought him back but then put his foot in his mouth after it being in his ass to make a hero.

Three or four different stories have now been floated as to the intent of his actions.
The military is going to keep Obama at arms length on this.
The media spins will be ignored.

The Article 32 hearings and potential courts martial will operate on the facts of the incident.
If he goes to a courts martial - good luck in trying to convince the panel of officers/NCOs that he was taking the "long" way home.

Oh please. This thing is a political football and you know it. Obama had a press conference because it was a good thing to get a pow. The gop cant let obama have any accomplishments so they sandbagged it. You know this is true. You can try and be cute and dance around it but thats a fact.

Should he face trial? Sure. Should he face any punishment that comes from that? Sure. Should the gop demand his death and say he should of been left over there? NO.

It was one thing to announce/show the release.
Similar to what was done w/ respect to the POWs from Vietnam.
I have no conflict with that.

However, to then bring up the serve with honor and double down on such.

The release of the 5 from Gitmo without following the law.

That was tapped danced around initially; trying to state that they were thinking of such a few months in advance.

When that failed, then the issue of health was broached
And that was then shown up when he was evaluated by military MDs upon his exchange.

It was the GOP that was pissed off that he let the 5 go without notifying Congress that he was doing so.

This was not the GOP doing that he kept coming up with excuses that were not thought out.

Saying he served with honor is a bridge TOO FAR.

It's like 10,000 Benghazis.

omg obama said served with honor! Lets clog up all the news because thats (possibly) not true waaaa.

Are we in preschool again?

As for breaking the law. The gop has cried wolf so many times I dont even listen when they talk about the president breaking laws. If he broke a law then take him to court. Otherwise stop spending clock cycles on dumb shit.

How dare that woman say something positive about a POW right after getting him back?

Why didn't she push him down onto the ground and stomp on his throat? It's not like he's innocent until proven guilty.

Why does the KingObummer™ administration hate Murrica!

the gop has the shittiest talking points. It does nothing but further alienate the base from the rest of the country.

Did he notify Congress 30 days prior to the prisoner release as the law requires?

Whether or not anyone is going to take him to task is different; all he showed was again a disregard for the laws of the nation.
And that is what his supporters accept:(

Which they repeat ad nauseum. It's called "stuck on stupid". It's what they live for, apparently, at least wrt Obama.

Congress & anybody else who cared knew the Admin's intentions months before the exchange. Righties like to go on as if the Taliban had no say in the matter, either.

When the opportunity to close the deal arose, Obama (the CinC) seized it. He didn't say he needed more time so that he could properly notify congress so that they could fuck it up.

If he were a vindictive man, the whining from the impotent Repubs would be music to his ears.
