We don't expand we have people over throw the government and install a dictator who will follow our lead. The list is too long to name all. There was Iran, Chile, Vietnam, Panama, El Salvador most of South America. Some involved the assanation of elected leaders.

The United States has been guilty of many things over the years. That said, most powers have been guilty of far worse. Gonna have to stand up for the USA here.

Remember that the USSR was expansionist, and that Stalin was a far worse killer than Hitler. Poland, East Germany, Yugoslavia and others were satellite countries controlled by Moscow.

Canada and Mexico have not been threatened with force if their internal politics are not resolved to our satisfaction. The above European countries would have been, and often Soviet tanks were in those countries and not as a show of support for the freedom of those nations. The estimate of those dead by Stalin and other Soviet leaders is realistically pegged between 15 and 30 million, 25 million being a commonly accepted figure. I have yet to see evidence of the US doing this to it's citizens. Or anyone elses for that matter. Does that justify Enrons? No. Is our country perfect? No. The fact remains that for all it's faults, it is a helluva lot better here than under Stalin. I, and others are concerned about the course we are charting in the Middle East. Others disagree with me. None of us feel threatened to speak our mind though, and as long as that remains true, living here is a good thing.
 
Stalin was a trrrible man but to say our forign policies are to protect our self's from him is absurd. He's been dead for over forty years. Politicans have been scareing people like a flock of sheep to vote for them when there was never a threat to this country from this long dead man.

It hasn't hampered me one bit either. I was accepted to all colleges I applied to and received a scholarship to the program I wanted to go into. I transferred to UAB for the upcoming semester and changed my major. No scholarship but in-state tuition is cheap and due to CLEP tests I will hopefully not have to take any core classes and will maybe get out of a portion of my minor and major.

I fail to see why you think I dislike AA because it has affected me personally. It hasn't! I don't like it because of what it does. Actually I am incorrect about that now that I think about it. My parent have been unable to sell their house because property values have dropped dramitically where they used to live(they moved but still own the house). Why did they drop? Pleasant Grove was sued by the Federal Government and forced to annex parts of Dolemite, Hueytown, and Fairfield because the school system didn't have 25% minorities. Yeah that was totally fair Red. They were forced to annex lower income and depressed areas because of a quota.

It wasn't the minorities! It was the federal government forcing a city to annex people who didn't want to be annex and a city that didn't want to annex an area of higher crime and lower income. Hell Dolomite, HT, and the part of Fairfield was happy with what they had. Now they have a 90% white police force patroling their neighborhood. Anytime there is a crime or fire the cry goes out that the white people took too long. I am looking at the big picture and I do see your point, but you aren't seeing mine!

I don't remember the immigrants to this country over the past 200 years needing any social programs or AA to pull themselves up and become gainfully employed or educated. That had a drive and a desire to accomplish and attain what they couldn't in their home country. The underlying racism lies on both sides and for some odd reason minority racism gets ignored very easily.

What people fail to realize is that AA was not needed by my ancestors(English, Scottish, and German) so why is it needed now? Sure you could argue that black people were disadvantaged by slavery and they were! You also then have to argue that the Irish, Scottish, German, etc immigrants were literal slaves back during their immigration periods. Neither situation was fair but they seem to have made it. Why don't we give minorities a chance these days to make it instead of trying to make it for them. I for one would think that many of them would like that better.

Every generation in America brings another generation of disadvantaged immigrants and they always seem to make it. They stop making it when we give them money and gifts for free and allow them to become reliant on a corrupt system. If all social programs were reformed and only those programs that are necessary remained we would stop our hemorraging deficit and allow minorities to prove themselves(which they WILL do).

My problem has never been with the minorities one bit. My problem is with the people that are fvcking with the system that worked for 200 years and now it is leading to more desolation and reliance than ever imaginable.

Unfortunately, not even Affirmative Action's most ardent defenders can claim that AA is accomplishing its most basic intent: to give "disadvantaged" blacks an advantage in the selection process so the "playing field will be level".

Some 70% - 80% of all allocated Affirmative Action "slots" reserved for blacks in the nation's largest colleges and universities are being filled, not by blacks from "disadvantaged" schools or families, but by the children of well-to-do blacks whose incomes put them in the top 5% of black wage-earners in the United States.

Meaning, Affirmative Action is doing little more than giving a race-based advantage, not a means-based advantage, to black kids who have all of the "perceived" advantages that white kids enjoy - good schools, stable family environments, and parents who can afford their children's secondary education.

It is not lost on the Great List of all Things Ironic how it could do service to the concept of "equality" to give preferential treatment in academic selection to the child of a black physician who makes $250,000 annually and was never a slave over the child of a white Walmart cashier who makes $25,000 annually and never owned slaves, under the guise that the black child would not be able to compete with the white child because it is merely presumed that the white child has all these 'alleged' advantages.

What is also not lost is that, since the children of affluent blacks have all the advantages of affluent whites, they should not need preferential treatment in order to compete with the children of lower-earning and middle-class whites, but the academically mediocre children of affluent black families are given spots before the academically talented children of lower-income whites, rewarding blacks simply for being black, not for being "disadvantaged", and punishing whites for being white, not for being "advantaged".

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear I was on that Bizarro Superman Planet where up is down, the sky is green, and the grass is blue.

What is also not lost is that, since the children of affluent blacks have all the advantages of affluent whites, they should not need preferential treatment in order to compete with the children of lower-earning and middle-class whites, but the academically mediocre children of affluent black families are given spots before the academically talented children of lower-income whites, rewarding blacks simply for being black, not for being "disadvantaged", and punishing whites for being white, not for being "advantaged".
