Basically just click cancel on your account and on the second to last page before finalizing the cancelation, it offers to lower your monthly rate by $3, for 6 months.. only catch is you can't cancel inside of those 6 months... but if you are a member of the service and don't plan on canceling anytime soon, why not save a few extra bucks?

:)

IMO, netflix still has the best speed of delivery, size of selection, and lowest "lost mail"

i've used walmart's free trial and they were slow. and just last week i tried blockbuster's free trial and they were horrible.

gotta stick with netflix. and i've seen the discount before when i tried to cancel.

Does anybody experience slow down with netflix? I have been using them for almost 3 years with good experience. In the past, they almost ship out movie the same day they receive my return. But in the last several weeks, they ship 1 to 3 days after they receive my return. Blockbuster's offers movie pass for $24.99 ($14.99 first month) that you can get two movies in store. I am going to give it a try.

Yes, I've noticed a slow down in their operations. My schedule used to be to return on monday, new ones on wed, return them on thur and have new ones on sat for a total of 9 out per week. Ok, I'll admit to being a shrink whore. But now I'm lucky to get more than three a week and I'm paying more.

I read that netflix is having a problem with keeping customers. They are having to spend a bunch of money marketing to new customers to make up for the ones they have lost. Them doing what they can to keep your account makes sense. Any tried the free upgrade trick?

I use walmart. Shipping speed at both Netflix and Walmart depends on your location to their nearest warehouse operation.

Im near OKC. Netflix shipped out of Texas, Walmart out of Arkansas. Either way, I get them about the same shipping time.

Walmart is only 15 bucks tho

One starts loving Netflix, but as time goes on and you start renting more than 3 movies per week, Netflix puts you in a LOW RANK territory where service slows down substantially for any new releases.

Just as an example, I COULD NOT get "Kill Bill" for 4 weeks when it came out on DVD. I complained. They then acquiesed and had a copy mailed from the East Coast to West Coast. It took over one week to receive!! All the time, I learned the "Kill Bill dvd was shipping regularly to newer customers when it came out.

Such numerous examples of getting dicked around really wore my patience down to the nub, so I cancelled Netflix when Blockbuster came out with their service. I'm totally happy with Blockbuster. There's a large store close to me. Availability is almost never a problem. Some of their movie,s however, are in VHS or non-widescreen DVD format.....so I ask for the WS DVD version of the movie at the counter and within 3 days (Netflix time) I get my copy of the movie I want.

Blockbuster seems to be really bending backwards to keep their customers. What a change from FvckFLix!

Same thing happened to me with netflix. After being a member for about 2 months, all new releases in my que showed "Long Wait". I was only getting about 3 movies a week-apparently it's fairly easy to get on their low priority list. I'm trying the blockbuster thing now.

Another way to save a few bucks with netflix is to enroll in the ebay anything points program. If you enroll with netflix thru ebay anything points, netflix will send you 2,500 points (worth $25 on ebay) to your paypal account.

I rented about as many as possible (2 exchanges per week) for nearly a year and never got bumped to long wait on new releases. Always got them on the Tuesday or Wednesday they came out. Granted I was on the uber plan (8 out per time) so maybe they don't jack you around when you're paying 40-50 bucks a month.

The way I look at it, you don't sign up for Netflix, or any of these services for that matter, for new releases. You go to your local vid store and rent them. I am sitting on 159 movies in my que, and none of them state that there is a wait, they all say available now. I had Fleetwood Mac - Live in Boston in my que last week, said "Very Long Wait", and it shipped anyway, and I got it Saturday. I am extremely happy with Netflix, and its people like this OP that is causing the rates to go up. Just my 2 cents........

Man...Misinformation is great.

Nexflix ships to my house from a town about 15 minutes away...in New Jersey.

Slightly east of Texas. ;)
