This is the first Hot Deal that I have posted....it isn't the best but its better than a kick in the junk!!

Microsoft Office XP service pack 2 (SP2) has just been released today and you can order a CD with the SP on it from MS for FREE!!! From what I can tell on their site the CD became avaliable at around 2pm today. There is no shipping to pay or anything, just sit back and wait for it to arrive.

thanks! only found out three weeks ago that i could get the office2k cd for free too. ms shipped it within a week and a half!
 
gypsyman -- This should work on all versions of Office XP. Don't quote me on this.

As an extra added bonus for all those that dont already know, you can slipstream this update into your current Office XP cd so you don't have to run the update everytime you install, it will already be on the CD.

This is what ya do....

1. Insert your Office XP cd and make a shortcut to the SETUP.EXE file on the CD.

2. Edit the shortcut so it reads SETUP.EXE /a

3. Run the shortcut and have it copy the files to a directory of your choice. I picked C:\OfficeXP

4. Run the ADMINISTRATIVE EXE off the CD or that you downloaded from the web....it is called oxpsp2a.exe Extract it to a directory...I picked C:\sp2

5. Once all of the files are copied go to RUN and enter the following...


msiexec /a C:\officexp\proplus.msi /p C:\sp2\MAINSP2ff.msp

This will update all of the file that you copied off the original CD to SP2 versions. Now all you gotta do is burn all of the files in the C:\officexp directory to a CD and you have an updated OfficeXP SP2 cd that you won't need to update when you install next time!!! You could also just leave the directory on your HD and install programs from there if your short on CDs but not on HD space 🙂
