Nice, I don't need to take hours to DL..
Thanks..

Yah, why waste a couple of hours downloading it when you can wait 8-10 weeks for the CD to arrive. 🙂

Kinda OT...but...

Do any of you guys know how to do something very similar? I heard about tutorials to add service pack 3 into a base Windows 2000 cd, just like this XP method. Hence I add service pack 3 to a 2k cd, and that way next time I install I dont need to update? You get what I'm saying right? Same thing as the Office XP thing, just for SP3 on 2k...

TIA

Sure I'm not the only one who's thinking this...

Any changes to the registration process/banned keys or any of the stuff we're expecting in XP SP1?

This really cool bird that I hangout with from time to time told me that he knows a guy that used the "FM9FY..." key for this via a slipstream install and he didn't have any problems with registration, activation, etc.

Wouldn't you need to slipstream SP1 into there somehow as well? Or does SP2 include everything SP1 includes?

\

if it's like sp for windows .. then you don't need slipstreamed sp1 cd.

*edit*

tried to extract my sp1 officexp .. and it won't do it.. so you need original officexp cd to do this.

Microsoft Office XP service pack 2 (SP2) has just been released today and you can order a CD with the SP on it from MS for FREE!!! From what I can tell on their site the CD became avaliable at around 2pm today. There is no shipping to pay or anything, just sit back and wait for it to arrive.

Order Page is here!!

This might be warmer for people who are on dial-up connections, eitherway it is a free CD.

Thanx, just order 10 for my department

see this page

I quote directly from Microsoft:

Note Prior to installing Office XP SP2, you must install Office XP Service Pack 1 (SP1)

I just got an email from microsoft today saying the item is on back order...doh. I ordered right after the thread was posted too. Amazing.

htne,

I don't get it. This is a direct quote from MS site you posted.

"Some of the fixes included with SP2 have been previously released as separate updates. This service pack combines them into one update."

Then further down it says.

"This service pack also includes all updates released since Office XP Service Pack 1 (SP1):"

So do I need sp1 or not?

There are two different files available for download.

oxpsp2.exe 15,516,048 bytes

oxpsp2a.exe 51,430,288 bytes

The link quoted above in this thread is for the smaller file, oxpsp2.exe. If you download this file, you must have SP1 as well. If you download the larger file, then no, you do not need SP1.
