Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online MMO Trailer

Might just be the trailer quality but it just didn't feel right. It didn't feel 40k.

I'll have to watch it again later and see

Good to see that we're getting more Warhammer 40k.

That's sick, I'm gonna have a hard time choosing between this and GW2 for my next MMO...

Are they making GW2 an MMO (as opposed to the massive chat rooms with less than massive game of GW (not that that's horrible))?

I can't see the links at work, but I'm surprised they're making another warhammer MMO after the fantasy one flopped so bad. I like 40k better as a universe though so it's nice to see hear it's being made.

Yeah GW2 is going to be a full on MMO w/o a subscription fee, I won't derail this thread with it but it sounds great so far.

Anyway this is made by a totally different company than the fantasy MMO. The big problem with WAR was that it was released way too soon, it's a pretty fun game but it's still a buggy mess. If they release a game that's pretty well polished it will do great just off the 40K name alone. I think most people are more into 40k as well, having a central storyline figure makes the lore more interesting I think.

That's pretty much the story of any MMO that I ever played at release. People dis WoWs startup because of the overload on their servers, but as far as polish goes it was moreso in beta than most games are well after release.

WoW had a very good start even with the login servers getting hammered. On SWG launch, the login servers crashed and nobody could play the first day it was released.

I think this is a better idea than WAR, and always have. I don't have real high hopes for any MMOs however.

They're charging for GW2.

That sound you heard was my interest dropping.

Um that isn't true, they're doing the same model as the first game. off topic anyway but I hate when people spread wrong info around...

I hope this game is good! By good i mean i managed to get more than 1 month worth of game play out of it unlike Warhammer Online, Age of Conan and STO.

Game looks nice. Too bad it's an MMO as I will never play one again, ever 😛 Luckily there's Space Marine coming out too ! 😀

Just another MMO to the lot, I'll pass, instead I'll cross my fingers for a DoW II Imperial Guards and/or Necrons expansion pack with a good campaign, new multi-player features and more TLS content.

i'll cross my fingers for both. this could be interesting. of course if blizzard rolled out starcraft online, i'm sure i'd be SOL and playing that, haha 🙁

Where have I seen this idea before????????????????????????

http://www.darkmillenniumonline.com/

On the very edge of the galaxy lies the Sargos Sector. For centuries it was rendered uninhabitable and isolated by volatile Warp Storms. Even now, deep within the sector the very fabric of reality is unraveling. Only the ancient Sentinel Devices hold the Warp at bay.

But the ravages of time and meddling of humanity have weakened the Sentinel Devices-and now, the battle for these ost worlds is at hand. Drawn to the conflict, the great races of the galaxy descend upon the Sargos Sector, seeking to preserve reality-or to tear it asunder.

Side with the forces of Order, or the vile hosts of Destruction, in a war that will unlock ancient secrets, reveal dark purposes, and determine the fate of the Sargos Sector. For in this dark millennium, there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter.

Edit: Sigh....this image sums up my view of this bastardization of the 40K IP.

I hope Tyranids are a playable race.. I want nothing more than to run around as a customizable genestealer or huge carnifex.

The trailer looks OK, but Drift3r is right. The line on the website looks so blah and cliche it could make me a concern troll. This is the only MMORPG I have had any interest in since I quit AO. Awesome IP, but then again that didn't help Star Trek Online.

After watching this again, I have serious doubts that it is worthy of the Games Workshop approval and that it is worthy of the name Warhammer 40,000.

Looks rather poor in both graphics and art direction (major wtf? on the art).

It does look seriously fun... which has me split. Does a fan of the universe/lore play a game which looks like it makes a mockery of what it is supposed to represent?

I'm going back to the SWTOR thread to read about people complain about fluff being torn apart in a disrespectful way 😛
