Shit.. Why won't SK+USA do one MASSIVE preemptive attack? Something must be done to minimize damage to Seoul. It's as if war is inevitable, and diplomacy NEVER worked with NK, so why even try. I wish there is one huge invasion into NK to destroy most of the artillery pointed to Seoul, then just go on from there.

Such an attack would be a wonderful thing. You see, in order for such an attack to be successful, a huge area of North Korea must be turned into a wasteland. Nothing must survive the initial onslaught. Everything must be destroyed. The North Koreans must understand that anything less than their complete and unconditional surrender will result in the annihilation of their entire homeland. Everyone knows this.

I am Korean (I know you are too Dan) so I am biased on this issue. But I did take a few Military Science classes in college, and in every War Game scenario with NK, at LEAST 1/3 of Seoul will become destroyed (even in the most optimal first strike scenario) due to its proximity to the border and the 13k artillery pieces deployed by NK at the border. I also believe they have a 1 million man army and 90k special ops (spec ops at the border).

I wonder if all this NK military activity has to do with the SK ex-president committing suicide and they are using it as an opportunity to see if they have an opening while the country is mourning and in slight disarray...

we should've put a couple of MIRV buses into a high orbit in the late 70's so that we could get away with a 21st century first strike without any launch.

Evacuate seoul then strike, problem solved. Property can be replaced.

I used to be of this attitude (however, most Koreans ARE NOT. Look up "sunshine" policy. I actually mocked it, I still disagree with it though) considering the fact that let's say we wage war with NK and topple the regime, the fact that the NK propaganda machine is SO effective that the common people, who btw are starving, will not accept SK/USA because they believe we are the devil.

So we have two options. 1) Status-quo, and 2) Kill all North Koreans. Of course we would ask ourselves what's the point of #2. We can only hope that the next dictator is a benevolent one and would slowly turn NK around. However, that has like a 0.0001% chance.

Do you know what the most Korean populated city is outside of Seoul? Los Angeles. EVERYONE lives in Seoul. That is impossible.

Bleh not such a great situation then :( Ah well maybe technology will solve the problem in the long run, EMP bomb to disable the artillery etc. Of course by that time kim jong might well have died and n.korea sorted itself out.
