folgers is half decent considering the price if enough grounds are used. can't beat the price. and the current containers atleast have the gas valve so its packaged relatively fresh. it meets the low "tastes good as starbucks" benchmark. i'll probably stick with it till i get an espresso machine later

I'm going to have to wildly disagree even with the "tastes good as starbucks" comment :)

Most of the blends that Folgers offers are comprised of low-quality Robusta beans roasted who knows how many months prior to your receipt of the product. Starbucks actually buys quality beans, and while you're still not likely to get them fresh (unless you're lucky enough to get the beans that come in the vacuum bags from the roasterie itself) they're still much better. The single-origin beans are passable, high-quality, and beat just about anything else you get at the supermarket.

imo of course.

nice pics. I just started getting into espresso. I got an Exobar Pulser and a Mazzer Mini grinder. I drink mostly Americanos but so far my drinks have been hit or miss but are starting to get more consistently good. Since reading this thread its a long 30 minute wait to heat up the Exobar:(

Yeah, mine takes a fair amount of time to heat up as well. The Pulser is a great machine, and obviously so is the Mini.

I don't drink many Americanos as I will largely just go for a press pot instead if I'm wanting more volume.

Americanos give a better taste imho than a french press plus each cup is fresh and hot. Yummy. But you are right. It would make a little more sense to make a pot at a time, its just that I prefer the taste of espresso to regular coffee
