why did you buy the i3 530 in the first place and what are you looking to accomplish with a faster cpu? if this is for gaming then its your 5670 that is the main limitation. also 2gb doesn't cut it anymore so you certainly need another 2gb. most i3 530 reviews will have various i5 and i7 cpus for comparison so you can just look at those and determine if its worth it. really you could easily just oc that cpu and get about the same performance as an i5 760.

hi.....thanks for reply....
the time i bought the cpu only i3-530 was available at my place. yes game like gta 4 and basically video encoding i will do. the other thing my dealer is taking back the 530 for market price. and the main thing is that i don't anything about overclocking from bios .yes my mobo has overclocking software's but they are not stable. (tyrbo v and turbo key). and iam using windows xp sp3 32 bit edition. my monitor is a AOC 18.5 inch LED with the max resolution of 1366*768.

OP is in India.

Core i5 750/760 should be a good step up, or a Core i7 860 if you need 8 threads for video encoding especially. If you can sell the 530 back at market price, then the upgrade is not a bad idea if you really do a lot of video work.

Hi friends
i sold my graphic card sapphire HD 5670 1gb too today to my friend for the same market price(it's 10 days old). so please suggest a better graphic card for around dollars 180. with futer proof and play games without problem and also the name of company like sapphire, xfx, zotac etc...i will now buy the card from NEHRU PLACE..THE BIGGEST IT Hub in Asia. i can wait for one month if something new coming or price will slash. and will i5-760 be good for gaming? games like GTA4 . I think this is the only heaviest game want max config for batter game play..(My personal opinion...Dont know if any other game need heavy system configuration.)
thanks a lot you all for your kind help...(sorry for bad English.)

I am not sure about a price cut for anything < $180 coming within a month. Around late October, most likely available in November, HD6000 series will launch. That is pretty far away.

You can try to get a GTX460 768mb/1GB card if you can find it for <$180. Otherwise, your best bet is XFX, Gigabyte, MSI 5770 1GB etc., used 4890 1GB / GTX275. 5830 is similar in performance to these 3 cards, so can be an option. However, its price is too close to GTX460 to recommend. Once GTX460 is overclocked, it's performance surpasses 5850 and even a GTX470. If you can afford it, the 1GB GTX460 is the perfect mid-range card. Otherwise the 768 is sufficient.

If you had to choose between GTX460 and 2 gigs of ram, then get a 5770 instead and more Ram for your system.

a GTX460 768MB would be the best you can do for $180

As for CPU i would go with a i5 750/760, GTA IV love quads. And it will be faster encoding as well. Should also overclock nicely with a good cooler.

No - whereas your i3-530 can provide video through your H55 motherboard, the socket 1156 quad-core CPUs do not have on-package video. Make sure you have a graphics card installed before switching to a quad-core.

At 1366x768 resolution I'm not sure if you'll see much difference between your 5670 and the GTX460 anyway, unless you need PhysX. But at least the faster processor will give you better encoding performance.

I'd upgrade your CPU first, monitor second, and video card third if possible.

Consoles are not popular in India. Also, you have to assume that the OP has a TV capable of resolutions greater than 720p considering there are very few HD channels available as of date.

The biggest factor against the PS3 is ofcourse the crappy IQ.

The only reason i say that is because GTA4 is a pain to play on PC, the damn thing is just never happy, it always wants more and more and gives you less. A lot of games i rather play on PS3 than on PC, specially those heavy on graphics. But then again, if there are limitations in his country regarding console gaming, then yes, he's probably better off with a PC.

OP, an i7 is a bit of an overkill, just got with an i5 and buy a 5770 for about 200(?) USD. 5770 has double the power of the 5670, i can tell you that much. i5 shouldn't go for more than 220 USD. Again, 200 USD is a very small budget for what you want to do.

perhaps that's because you have a 9400 gpu. btw its not a 9400m because that is a notebook gpu so not sure why you call it that in your sig.

The i5 750 or 760 will be a good upgrade for you.

Should have kept the 5670 until you could buy a new video card. The i5 750 and 760 do not have integrated video. At 720p the HD5670 can hold its own reasonably well.

wow I didn't know that called it that so bad. a 9500gt is a joke of a card to try and play modern games on. if you had a decent gpu then you would of course be able enjoy pc gaming much more.

Yea, it ran most games "OK" at lower resolutions...i mean LOWER resolutions, some MMOs ran fine @ 1280*1024. Anyways, i'll either be getting a 5670/5770 or waiting for the new GF cards that are "supposed" to be due out next month. I'm sure my gaming experience(PC wise) will improve by then. Again, most of my gaming is on PS3. I switch over to PC at times to play BF2, AOE/C&C/UT3 and some other steam games. Upgrading GPU to play MW2, Just Cause 2 and FFXIV.

I doubt there is really anything more we can suggest, just go out there and find the best deal possible. Again, in your budget, i suggest 5770 1GB, and for CPU i would suggest an i5 instead of an i7. I'm sure most people would agree with my suggestion while taking into consideration your budget. Were you buying these in the US, the upgrades would be around 420 dollars, prices differ in other countries. Hell, if you can, go to Taiwan and you can buy this stuff for like 100 bucks, technically, the factories are right there. As far as brands go, just ask for EVGA, Gigabyte, Zotec, ASUS, etc. Anyways, Good luck :)

ATI- XFX
Nvidia - EVGA

But unfortunately you don't find these brands in India, atleast I didn't until now. I know ASUS is an OEM for both and is available there too. I am not sure about powercolor's QC but MSI and Sapphire are good brands you can look into.

EDIT: I just did some quick browsing and a 5770 is around Rs. 10,500 /- and GTX 460 768 MB is for around Rs. 11,500 /-
