It's actually a brilliant strategy. No one really cares about Pittsburgh, so when you claim it as the best city in the country, more people will buy your book.

This only confirms what I've known all my life. Mediocrity is the key to happiness.

It's because it's so unbelievably average. They judge it on however many categories, and with most of the big cities they are ranked near the top of some, but consequently at the bottom of others. Pittsburgh just seemed to have the highest average score.

Haha, I remember the one time I was in Pittsburgh. I was interviewing for med school at the time and I asked one of my interviewers what type of food was native to Pittsburgh. She had a puzzled look for a bit and then responded, "Well, we put french fries on our salads."

Most affordable housing in the country.
Friendly residents.
Minimal road rage and manageable traffic.
Low crime.
Tremendous health care facilities.
Property taxes are relatively high (but not NJ level).
Plenty of locally owned shops and restaurants (i.e. every place isn't a chain or a franchise).
Growing technology employment including Seagate and Google.
Westinghouse adding thousands of jobs for nuclear power plants.
Poor choice of elected officials (i.e. practically any nominated Democrat gets elected - regardless of record). Promise to cut taxes, get elected, and then immediately raise taxes? No problem, you'll get re-elected next time.
Stable neighborhoods. People know their neighbors and watch out for each other which keeps crime low.

Not perfect, but overall I think it's a great place to live.

Lol at that lame site.

They sure aren't biased towards big cities in just the West and North East.

And where is Cleveland in that list?
