Because Target doesn't make nearly as much money as Walmart?

I find it funny that Target disappeared from the national consciousness for years until Walmart got huge and people started going to Target as a hip alternative...

Heh, I used to work at both walmart and target, I will not shop at walmart, but I still shop at target. I have worked some pretty crappy jobs, fastfood, grocery stores, restaurants, but have never been treated as poorly as a employee as i have when i worked at walmart.

Target will still somehow make money because they are somewhat cleaner and can more closely monitor things that Walmart cannot, but the scary thing is, Walmart is seriously catching up in that ballgame. It's not likely you're going to have someone at Walmart be as "friendly" as a Target employee, but then again, more and more people are walking into a store to ask for themselves to get what they need/want rather than someone "bugging" them about something.

Most Walmarts are 24/7. Target is usually morning to night. Walmart is more whole-sale based. Target is a Kmart gone nice. Put the math together, Walmart appeals to a bigger target market. So now Target is trying to fight back. Sounds like Taco Bell vs McDonald's in some ways. Taco Bell can look as professional as they want, but they will always suck compared to McDonald's revenues.

actually walmart charter application was for an "industrial bank" , the same kind of bank Target created in 2004. industrial banks are not for retail customers, they are to service ATM and CC transactions, to cut the middleman out. or allow them to own the middleman to bring that cut back into their own revenue stream

How poor do you have to be to not be able to get a bank account? My six month old has one, and she doesn't even have a job.

You think walmart getting into banking is a good thing?

Their monopoly isnt in the traditional sense.

They control every aspect of their services.

But they do it in such a way that legally it isnt one.

They make other people send labor to China, they control where those companies get their materials, they control the shipping, they control the warehouses, they control the trucks, and finally they control the stores.

They dont *OWN* all of these things, so it cant be construed as monopolistic/anticompetitive.

Even in the public opinions sense of what a monopoly is, how many "value" department stores are out there now?

K-Mart is bombing, Hills went the way of the dodo, Grocery Stores arent "value", Walmart doesnt compete with "home repair" stores directly, and Target.

So we have Target, and Walmart.

Which one is bigger?

This is a good thing.

Ever get the cashier who is 100% clueless how to give back change if her button is broken?

Imagine her working at a bank.

No thanks. No thanks.

Acanthus thank you for pointing out those facts.

Walmart uses it's size and influence way to much now as it is.

I don't use WM nor will I ever use them. I do not believe in their business practices and I will not look the other way just to save a dollar. Not that shopping at WM is any cheaper.

Funny how all the walmart hating lemmings are somehow able to get everything they need from other stores while crying about Walmart being a "monopoly."

Just more proof that leftists hate a winner. If you ever reach number one in any business, you'll become a leftist target and the victim of idiotic slander and libel.

Microsoft
AOL
McDonalds
Walmart
Intel
nVidia

And the list goes on.

The funniest thing is this: Walmart's direct competition has their own bank... and the leftists STILL don't want Walmart to do the same. Why? Because they "make more money." i.e.: They are winners.
