So, today I heard from another individual that the county commissioners have had their souls bought and eaten by the great and mighty evil known as Wal-Mart. The county commissioners have approved for a Wal-Mart to be built at my exit of the interstate that also happens to have a country club.
On of the reasons why I bought my home there four years ago was so to be able to better afford more home for what I could afford to pay. For this, I went from 14-miles from the workplace to about 36 miles. I did not buy a starter home but this is my first home. I got started a little late in the American Dream, and not that dream has turned into a nightmare.
I figured that if I had to, I could afford to break even (sell the home for what I paid for it) if resale became tough through new-construction competition, but this recent development will not only make that scenario a strong possability, but the immediate area will suffer a devaluation of property values. The same development group is also through up 200 townhomes across the street from this Poo-Mart (or Evil-Mart, whichever you think is most appropriate), and this will only add to the traffic load in the area.
And speaking of associated problems the exit was upgraded four years ago to support the traffic load then. Its completely insufficient as it now stands, but add in 200 more families worth of traffic right at the exist, bring in additional traffic load from people trying to coming in from further out (like peripheral counties), and the entire mess will go from worse to suicidel.
This is depressing. Anyone want to buy my home?
