Wal-mart is really going down hill

Seems you're complaining that he didn't check you out while he was off the clock. He's not allowed to and you're an ass if that's what you're complaining about.

Now if you had complained that he didn't go find someone to help you out, then I'd agree with you. The guy should have found someone to help you (aka good customer service).

I smell bullshit.

What could you possibly purchase at wal-mart for 3k?

A tv?

In which case you would have to get someone to help you with it.

In which case they would be on the clock.

In which case they would help you check out after they got the TV for you AND help you take it to your car.

in which case you are full of shit.

Second Scenario:

You are purchasing 3k worth of electronics.

At least once item is locked up. (360, Wii, PS3 and/or games for said systems)

In which case you would have to get someone to help you with it.

In which case they would be on the clock.

In which case they would help you check out after they unlocked the case and removed the item for you.

Third scenario and this is (most likely true)

You purchased a handful of items off the shelf in the electronics dept or elsewhere and when you saw no one there at the electronics to check you out you tried to get some employee..did not matter who, to ring you out....most likely someone who was on their way to take a break, and perhaps not even working in that dept....when they said no you became a whiny little bitch instead of going to the front of the store and checking out or using the self checkout.

Wal-mart is not the problem....customers like you are the problem...you assume that "the customer is always right".....sorry, no.....many times the customer is simply an asshole.

That manager should have a designated break room for his employee's. Having people out on the floor in official uniform clocked out is a recipe for customer service disaster.

when you are getting off of work, do you mind if your boss stops you in the parking lot and tells you to come back in to help with a project?

Meh, I wouldn't have pushed it on him. You must understand that the guys that work at Wal-Mart don't exactly have a lot of pride...I might have done the same thing.

You must understand broad generalizations suck. I worked @ walmart for 7 years in high school and college and had a lot of pride. Doesn't matter where you work, you should always have pride in your work.

I was at the electronics counter at wal-mart today and saw one of the employees standing around. There were only two employees I saw helping customers, and he was not with anyone.

I asked him if he could check me out. He told me no that he was clocked out and would not check me out. I asked him "would not or could not" and he said "would not". I told him I didn't care and that it was customer service, and that if he wouldn't check me out he should go find someone who would. He ignored me and walked away.

I found a department manager who told me it was policy he not check me out while he wasn't clocked in.

I can't believe this is actual policy? What happened to customer service? This is why I do most of my shopping online.

Wage and hour laws.

It's bad enough that the poor schmuck works at Wal Mart. Some jerk harassing him because he won't do extra work when he's off the clock is not cool. If the guy was bright, he would have removed his vest or left the store, but off the clock = off the clock, meaning don't expect them to do any work.

I was having a hard time understanding your post, but finally realized that it's not in English. It's in "Douche". I went on over to Babelfish and translated it into English, and here are the results:

"Me me me me me me!!!!"

You expected him to work while he was off the clock?

Fail.

Ok it would have taken 2 minutes. Plus he was still wearing his uniform. It's not my fault he wasn't clocked in.

You can't be serious.

WTH is wrong with customer service these days asking for 2 minutes of time and "you can't be serious"?

If I was working there I would have provided GOOD customer service said "Hey I'm off the clock, but two minutes to help a customer isn't the end of the world" and would have done my job.

He probably spent more than 2 minutes not being productive that day anyway. It would have averaged out.

What if you bumped into him across the street at mcdonald's? Would you have expected him to walk back and check you out? It's only ten minutes of his time!

you definitely should take this all the way to Bentonville.

make an example of this punk! ITS CUSTOMER SERVICE!

its an OUTRAGE!

he shouldnt have been standing there. when I worked retail and was on break i was out of sight or I took my uniform off so there was no confusion.
