Agreed. When he said "My tab comes out to $46 or so and i leave a $7 tip", somehow I came under the impression that the OP spent a minute or two with a calculator, trying to make up numbers. And, I've never seen or heard of someone who cut their lip on a chipped glass.
Of course, his post count seems to give him some forum credibility; but I still doubt the story is as he told it.

One other thing, OP, could you make a decision on which tense you're going to use while telling a story? "I throw a business card in her direction and tell her to take it up with the law firm I was for and advise her to go back inside and make earn her $7.50/hr." Are you an errand boy for the law firm? Did you type that after too many drinks at the bar? I *shudder* agree with dmcowen.. "corporate thug" fits.

Yeah, I question the lawyer bit now. What kind of lawyer would have see their friend cut his lip on a bar glass and not try to sue for big $$$?

A chipped bar glass is not much sharper then a piece of hard candy. You would need to drag your lip over the chip back and forth with force to draw any blood. I find this part of the story shens.

Still waiting for the "well, I exaggerated that part" which will be followed by "well, I exaggerated the amount of the tip too" followed by "I exaggerated the reaction of the waitress."

Well...the upside on bar tips is, I imagine, very high.

yeah but as i said up a few post it really wouldn't have mattered. each meal was around $6 then you have one beer at $2.00 (or $2.50 think they raised it last week) and one lemonade (not sure on the price).

so it would have been under $20 regardless. not to mention the bill didn't state how much it was.

it amazes me when i go out for dinner at a friends who lives in toward Chicago. where a meal here would cost me under $10 it would be closer to $20 out there.

anyone in or around Sycamore IL hit up Pj's tavern across from the court house. food is good (not great though) the help is hot and the beer is cheap (one of the cheapest in town). only negative is the fact that during the day it is full of lawyers

A $7 tip sounds just fine for a $46 bill to me and it sounds like the waitress was crazy for complaining about it, but... the way I read the OP is that there was a group of people at the table and it was just the OP's part of the total that came to $46. Could the waitress have thought that the $7 tip was all she was getting for the entire table? Did the friends leave tips for their parts of the bill as well? If the bill for the whole group came to say, $200 and the only tip she received was the OP's $7, I could see her asking if the service was alright as he said in the beginning. Following him outside as she did was ridiculous regardless, but it could have all started because of a misunderstanding about the total tip for the table or it could have been because the OP's friends were too cheap to leave a tip of their own.

I think the OP acted fine. This waitress followed him outside. Just think about that for a minute. A waitress chasing someone outside over a 15% tip on bad service? I would be absolutely incredulous. If he didn't stand up in some way against that psychotic bar wench you would have been yelling for him to turn in his man card.
