Wait, Ask.com was the 6th most popular site on the internet last month?

I'm more surprised that google and yahoo are "only" 10M apart. I'd think google was off the charts far and away the most visited

Nextag.com. I don't know anyone who's ever intentionally (or WOULD ever intentionally) navigate there.

That's 15 million witless clicks on search results.

They install toolbar that is impossible to remove and idiots just install it without looking. Wham, you are number 6.

ask.com is often one of the first things Google gives you. First page for questions anyways.

Never thought about it that way ... but ya ... I never seek that site out.

Did we timewarp back to 1999? :hmm: I thought ask.com was as dead as a door nail.

With that infectous toolbar it appears not. They are going to be able to increase their advertising rates based upon this.

Yeah, me too!

Want to know something even more strange? Total revenue for ask.com's parent company were up 25%... to $422 million. Of which about half comes from ask. ~$200 million dollars isn't a lot of money when you stack it up against Google or Bing, but holy hell it's a lot more than I thought they made.

Here's the article that talks about money:
http://techcrunch.com/2010/10/27/iac-third-quarter-25-percent/

If you read the TechCrunch article, these numbers are from Compete.com, so obviously they aren't 100% accurate. That being said, Compete is usually in the ballpark.

You all need to understand that we here at Anandtech forums are not like the majority of the population. The majority browse Yahoo because that's what they've become accustomed to. They play Farmville on Facebook and they check out their favourite bands on MySpace.

Also, they visit Ask.com for shitty middle of the barrel intelligence questions.

This list is not surprising at all.
