A government run auto warranty program does not sound appealing to me AT ALL. I'm less likely to buy a GM car as a result.

I'll tell you what Obama needs to (and won't) do:

Negotiate with foreign auto companies and give them loans + tax breaks to buy up GM (kind of like Chrysler?), dissolve all existing union contracts. Slash retiree pension and health benefits (if at all possible).
 
Henderson was the CFO 06-08 and then the COO, so he was just as responsible as Wagoner for GM's troubles, yet he remains and is now CEO.
