I had planned to do a mini-review on this card a month ago- but never got around to posting benchmark results.

Well since I've run into this thread- I can post my results for comparison with Goku's. The card was overclocked to 550mhz core speed and 700mhz memory speed- stock was 450mhz core and 625mhz memory.

System Specs:

Intel P4 3.2ghz Extreme Edition overclocked to 3.5ghz
Cooled by Zalman CNPS9500 LED
Asus P4C800 E-Deluxe
Gainward 7800GS+ Bliss 512MB DDR3 overclocked to 550mhz core clock and 700 memory clock
OCZ 2GB EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Platinum
1x 150GB WD Raptor
1x 250GB WD Caviar 2500KS

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/Kerby1280/3fd55fee.jpg As you can see it has a 6-pin PCI-E power plug. You can use a PCI-E power plug if your PSU has one or use the included adapter which plugs into two regular 4-pin molex power plugs-http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/Kerby1280/2f89023f.jpg

Benchmark Results:

3Dmark03- http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/Kerby1280/Benchmarks/03.jpg

3Dmark05-http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/Kerby1280/Benchmarks/05.jpg

3Dmark06-http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/Kerby1280/Benchmarks/06.jpg

Lost Coast Stress Test: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/...enchmarks/hl22006-08-0702-22-00-21.jpg Test was run at 1280x1024 resolution and max settings(AA, Anti-Scopic, Textures, etc..)

Fear Performance Test: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/Kerby1280/Benchmarks/fear.jpg Fear had to be run at 1024x768- I don't remeber why but I think because it didn't have 1280x1024 as an option.

As for benchmarking games that don't have a built in benchmark demo- I did'nt have a method so I just took screenshots with FRAPS running in the upper corner to show FPS.

Battlefield 2- Gulf of Oman @ 1024x760- I don't remember why the low resolution. Screen shot was taken at the start of the level- http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/...enchmarks/BF22006-08-0702-10-12-56.jpg

Call of Duty 2 (1280x1024 resolution)- D-Day stage where you're coming on shore and facing gunfire from the top of the cliffs. Shot was taken right after you get off the boat and there is a huge explosion to your right- http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/...arks/cod2sp_s2006-08-0701-56-32-29.jpg

Well I felt I didn't do this card justice as I was running it on my cousin's 19-inch LCD(max resolution of 1280x1024) and wish I had brung my 20inch Dell 2005FWP(max 1680x1050). Running it at lower resolution tends to stress the CPU more- at higher resolutions the CPU will offload more work to the GPU. But I can tell you I had a chance to run this card with my 2005FPW a week earlier and I ran Oblivion on it at 1680x1050 and it was smooth as butter- sorry no screenshots.

There were a host of other games I wanted to do screen shots of- Oblivion, Quake 4, Black and White 2, Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter but I did not have enough time- I sold the CPU and motherboard two days after doing the benchmarks.

Lost Coast: settings all maxed 60.24 . You scored 78.95

Fear: 28min ,55avg.,146max 0% below 25, 34%from 25 to 40,66%above 40. You scored
28,45,70
Your Fear scores seem low. I have a 16 pipe 7800gs@502 core ,1.44 memory for these benchmarks.

We need a higher resolution test with a athlon 64 cpu for a the Gainward 24 pipe card

Guys, I just wanted to let you know that:
1. All of the Futuremark and Farcry benchmarks I've done were done with my system running 1.5GB of ram, Single Channel, running at 200MHZ opposed to what I normally run which is 1GB, 250MHZ Dual Channel Configuration.

2. I'm contemplating whether or not I should redo all of the benchmarks for this or not or continue benching with this config and when I install the 7800GS+ I bench with the same configuration for apples to apples comparison. This may also provide the opportunity to show how much of a difference single channel async vs Dual Sync makes. I may end up doing all the benchmarks with how it is now and then at the end redo them all but with only 4 benchmarks per program with the better memory configuration (2GB, Sync@250MHZ).

run the benchmarks with your processor at different speeds like 2.8,3.0,3.2,3.4,3.6 so we can see how the card scales with the cpu, please!. Run some with the card overclocked and stock at 1600x1200 to check for bottlenecks. Resolutions 1024x768,1280x1024,1600x1200 higher if you can. Thanks again

Damn, the RMA ram arrived today and while it does clock significantly higher than the original modules I RMA'ed, they still are unstable past 200mhz.... It looks like I'm going to have to RMA those modules again :|

Not too sure if I should continue with the benchmarking or not. Also Benching at speeds like 3.0ghz, 3.2 3.4 and 3.6 either won't be possible or will suffer a bigger performance penalty (Running 5:4 ATM opposed to 1:1 which would make them run at slower than DDR400 speeds) than they're suppose to. I've done quite a bit of testing on the 9800pro running in Single Channel with 1.5GB of ram. Maybe I should have just done the benchmarks with my 2X512MB modules instead???

The memory modules have been RMA'ed AGAIN and I'm waiting to hear if they passed 'their tests' and replacement modules. It's annoying because I tested these modules in my system and a Nforce3-a ECS based system, AMD 64 Socket 754 and they generated errors, therefore I have to assume the modules are bad.

I want to know how long it took to get the card. And what the total was paid. I used a currency calculator , and came up with $299.07 US dollars.

My brother just had me order him a card like mine...and I'm paying $309 for it..I'd pay the difference , and return his card to order this one if it doesn't take very long to switch around some orders. That thing looks pissed off!!!

Well I paid 400 for the video card so I don't know how you're getting it for $300 but more power to you if you can. The 7800GS+ is much different from the 7800gs card you guys know about in the states (yes I live in the states). No there aren't any updates as of yet since I'm having issues with my motherboard as it's not liking my new 2GB memory modules that I was going to test the cards with. I plan on testing the card asap. I've already conducted tests with the 9800pro, 1.5GB of ram and 5:4 divider from 250mhz fsb. I want to test the system with the best the rig has to offer to eliminate any possibility of a bottleneck.
