I have a 2007 GTI and haven't had one problem with it. No rattles at all. I have more options than you listed and paid under 30.
edit: I compared to the MS3 and didn't like it. More noticeable turbo lag, interior isn't up to par, no sunroof, I think the rear end sticks out and looks horrible, no DSG (which is amazing and I used to drive stick).
LOL, seriously! He didn't even look at the R32! If you're gonna spend >$30k on a GTI, it better be an R32.Originally posted by: Fenixgoon

You must be talking about the the R32 one. But still though German cars are overpriced, and so are their resale values.

I owned a 97 VR6, my brother a 20AE, my ex g/f a late 90's cabrio...none of us ever had any issues with the cars.
Most were pretty impressed with the 'VW's.

no a fully loaded MkV GTI can come close to 30K! Ridiculous! I own a MkIV GTI VR6 and I think VW is charging too much.
In fact, VW is having a hard time selling the MkV R32. the MkIV R32 sold much better since it was only 29K and many more features separating it from a regular Golf/GTI (better seats, better engine, better body kit, better interior trim, better steering wheel). The new R32 doesnt have many features other than all wheel drive that sets it apart from a GTI. and the new R32 starts at 35K IIRC. and it only comes in DSG. WTF? VW dropped the ball with this one. Yea the DSG is technically a superior tranny over the 6MT but American drivers dont relate a sporty car with flappy paddle shifters.

Uh, the R32 DOES have a better engine compared to the GTI. Ever wonder what the 32 (3.2 V6) meant? People can get 300+ out of those with just an ECU upgrade. My friend's got a MkV GTI, he paid $23,some for it and got it with 0% financing. It's pretty fast, and even moreso with a $500 ECU retune. He had the trial for 5 hours of driving time from the dealer; I would'nt be surprised if it could hang with the Speed3.
