Yup. Touareg is one of my favorite SUVs. The interior is a super-luxury interior (and the exterior is pretty nice as well) but I'm guessing people are just scared of the reliability.

I haven't seen the interior of the Touareg yet, but the exterior looks pretty nice from what I've seen of them. It's a shame that companies such as Daewoo, Kia, etc. are surviving and companies such as VW are hanging on by a string.

Its funny you should say that when Daewoo is out of business, and the reason why Kia is surviving is because of thier incentives. VW sucks balls, Poor reliability, VERY poor reliability, is driving people nuts and not to mention the prices people have to pay for these crappy vehicles. If they want their market share back they have to give better incentives to the buyers and produce an acceptable vehicle.

Instead of developing the Phaeton, VW should have developed a new Passat. They went for the caviar without any bread and butter to put it on![]()

A colleague of mine who bought a new jetta was plagued by some intermittent malfunction in the electrical system where the engine would suddenly stop and the car wouldnt start for a brief period. It happened to him on the freeway and he was pretty pissed with the dealership. They actually replaced pretty much half the engine in the car but the problem still happened after 6months or a year. After bringing it in 5 times, as I understand it, he hired a lawyer and sent a legal letter to VW and the dealership stating the unreliability of the car and under a lemon law it needed to be replaced. He actually got 24k back from VW which he used to buy a CRV.
Personally, I wouldve stuck with the VW than own a shi||y looking poor excuse of a mini runt SUV.

Poor quality, sh!tty dealerships.
You're in for warranty work all the time, and while you're there you get treated like sh!t.
At least that's what I've heard of VW.

I'd say that most people(here) would take a CRV over a Jetta any day.

Same people would probably kiss a buttcheek if it would have Honda or Toyota stamped over it.
Not discriminating but I've driven a CRV and it lacks in the power department. Its a 'SUV' for the grocery store and on HWY 101 but it aint meant for driving on hilly roads. I had to floor it to move up the way to santa cruz. Combine that with ugly looks, the 'SUV' is only for people who are brand conscious.
I think for real that Japanese companies are having an ugly contest where the ugliest design wins.
