Vote for paralyzed cop to win his dream wedding

http://www.ultimateweddingcontest.com/entries/33527

Our love story.
On May 27, 2009, my fiancé Densey, a Chicago Police Officer, was paralyzed in a head-on collision while responding to a burglary call. He was in a coma for four weeks, but we were married in the hospital when he awoke. Almost a year later, Densey grows stronger daily, but our lives are forever changed. With mounting medical bills, we can¹t think about our dream wedding on a beach in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Densey has a machine that helps him stand for 30 minutes. To see him waiting for me, words cannot describe the feeling that would give me.

Take a minute and vote. They do require e-mail verification. Please keep comments respectful, thanks.

You know a lot of people here hate cops and will vote for the second place couple... Gregory and Jonathan.

But most people are lazy and won't get past the form where they enter their e-mail.

I voted.

I didn't think about that. Maybe they will consider that this dude was on his way to a burglary call. Maybe they will show some respect for the people they will be crying to to be saved when their lives go to hell in a hand basket.

I seriously don't get why people would want such an expensive wedding, its one day FCOL.

Wouldn't it be better to spend the $30k this wedding would cost on their "mounting medical bills"

people want a nice extravagant wedding because it (hopefully) only happens once, and memories last a lifetime.

you can always make more money.

if you seriously don't 'get it' then you are very close minded.

im guessing if they win this contest, they arent paying for their wedding...

No argument there, but the idea here is that this couple CAN'T pay for even a nice honeymoon for them to enjoy together. This guy got paralyzed on the job and when he woke up, she married him on the spot in his hospital room.

This contest gives them the opportunity to have a nice celebration, which isn't unreasonable given all that they have faced and will face, in the name of serving the public.

Someone stole his gun after the accident.

Witnesses say the gun was stolen minutes after the police SUV hit the side of a sedan that was taking a left onto Halsted off 98th Street. The officer was responding to a burglary call, so his siren and lights were off.

"As he was swerving… the police swerved on the other end and they crashed into the pole. It looked like the police was going 75, maybe 80 miles an hour," said witness Hoyle Marshall.

The driver of the sedan, 85-year-old Edward Blackledge, said, "I got into the center and I look up and saw this police car come up real fast fast, no lights and no sirens on."

At least three others in two cars were injured too. Those at the scene say the officer was in really bad shape, making it easy for someone to take his gun.
