You can do this with Skype for 10 euros for 3 months, or 30 euros for a year. They will give you a phone number in almost any area code in the USA you want. And they have other countries phones as well. So you could use this voipbuster to call out, and skype to recieve calls. You could then potentially live entirely without a normal phone line for cheap 🙂

Use FreeWorldDialup for incoming....get your US phone number free at ipKall.com. I have this setup....
All incoming and outgoing for free with a real phone number!

I wish Canada was on the free list......

Canada was on the free list for quite a while, and is actually the most recent country to be removed from the list.

Looks like they're going to continue dwindling down the # of free countries as their subscriber base increases.

If they keep taking countries off their free call list, they might as well shut down because we already have paid service like Skype that is better designed.

Yeah, but skypeout isn't free. This is. As long as I have at least free calls to anywhere in the U.S., I'm more than happy.

I downloaded this about a month ago, payed my 1 euro credit, made a test call, and hadn't used it till today. So TODAY, I called a friend in another state, free, with my original 1 euro credit. Anyone else still making free calls that had the program before they upped the fee? Is there a grandfather clause in place? Interesting.

Also, i haven't updated the software to the newest version, but am afraid to now thinking it will force me to the 5 euro minimum. Anyone with experience here? I love the program, but since I hardly use it I'm probably not going to waste 6 bucks just to play around with it....

I upgraded and it still works with the 1 euro balance.

Cool, thanks for letting me know. I guess it all has to do with when you created your account.

You can make the free calls with ANY positive balance (even 0.01 euro). The 1 euro and 5 euro are just the respective minimum starting balances then and now.

So is that mean I can only make free call to the countries only on the free list and I have to pay for the others by minute?

Paid my $6.18..... free calls for long time now.
The quality is great. Only downside is SLIGHT latency. Great IMO!

yes. the prices are cheap. but I recently noticed that they heavily reduced the number of free countries 🙁. Now Canada is out of the list, and that's exactly what I had paid them that 1 euro for 🙁. anyway, I feel i used it enough. now its their turn to make money 😀.

how's the quality calling to malaysia ?? in particular the delay?

I signed up, set it up in about 10 minutes, set up 5 Euro credit, and made my first free call. There is about a 1 second lag, but free long distance?... Excellent!

I've made a couple calls since they upgraded. Just today I did an in-program update, and all went smooth. I like the new feature to call other Voipbuster users. The next feature they're working on is letting users have their own "phone number." Whatever that means. If it's a real phone # (esp. for free) then I can't wait! 😀

Is anyone having this trouble
The application crashed due to an unexpected event.
The development team would like to have some additional information. By pressing the 'Send information button' detailed process information will be sent to us. The datasize is limited to 200kB.

At this rate, soon it will be "Call across the street...FREE!"

I updated the lead post in the thread to reflect some of the recent changes. Glad many are happy with VoipBuster.
It's been working very well for me. A tiny bit of delay occasionally is the only issue I've had. Audio quality, as also reported by others here, is very clean.
