I am looking for a VNC/VPN solution, so I can run software on my home machine when I am on the road. Ideally, I would like a web-based solution, but I would also be fine with a client/server solution such as tightVNC, ultr@VNC, or realVNC or a hardware solution.
I tried googling for information, but there is so much to filter through. So:
- Are there any low-cost web-based VPNs? I know of gotomypc.com, but there price $20/mo seems high to me?
- Should tightVNC be easy to setup? I have a cheap router at home with a cable Internet connection. My home PC is running XP HOME.
- Are there any hardware solutions? I read somewhere that you can purchase a specific, older router and flash its firmware to support some type of VPN application.
