If you take the to customize it and mess around a bit can do a lot of things.
But nothing will change the engineering/design of the interface to what I prefer in any app.

Wow. I am shocked. I have total loyalty to VLC cause it's never let me down. Can you pls share which files it would not play the PotPlayer does? Important to know this!
How do these guys have the 2.1.4 version before it's posted on the VLC website?
MP4, FLV and AVI files all have the same issues. I am using VLC to play video files off of an onboard 7200rpm hard drive so it's not a hardware issue. Fast forwarding often produces severe pixelation and player freezes.
I use VLC from local files to check video that I am producing for use on the internet. I play the files on a number of players to make sure they are compatible, so it's easy to see the difference between the players using the same video file
If U scroll up, U will see that was my confusion as well. And yet, it exists and I got it.
Interesting. R we sure it's not your GPU? Ar you using integrated or discreet video?
Wow. Fascinating. I would like to get clear on the reasons for this!
I have a GeForce GT 640 video card, not the most powerful in the world but plenty enough power to run video.
VLC was doing fine until a few updates ago, not sure exactly which one, then I started to notice problems. First thing I noticed was when you played a video in slow motion, the sound stayed at normal speed, that never happened before. Then the very noticeable pixelation and tearing of the playback, especially when rewinding or fast forwarding.
To each his own I guess, I prefer it myself. But nothing will change the engineering/design of the interface to what I prefer in any app.
Winamp? NMI will check it out, but if it don have a Santa hat on its icon at Xmas, I will remain monogamous.()
Is it French? Some of the finest vintage art glass is Daum Nancy. French.

Update:
K, I got it, installed it and, no offense, I don like it. So I will now uninstall it. Don like the GUI, and, while below was not done from a formal capture using it,I jus used Windows, to me, neither the video quality nor the audio (I did not configure the audio) is as good as VLC's.
But, I needed to try it. I had a brief little fling.
For all my MP3 files I use Winamp which is alive and well and still fabulous.

To each his own I guess, I prefer it myself.
Winamp? NM
SpeedFan has been buggy a long time try HWMonitor.
and CPUZ.
I just find Speedfan pretty much unnecessary I guess.

What are the card's temps both at idle and under load?
Of course, if you have no issues using the other players, it's prolly not the card.

It's open source I believe like VLC.
It's not my hardware, the computer works fine. The problem is with VLC. Maybe there's some weird conflict with the installed software. I have a lot of video editing and rendering programs, maybe something is not compatible with the VLC codecs.
I figured that when I first started seeing glitches that a subsequent version would take care of it, but not so far. With open source software, you're kind of on your own, I don't have the time to deal with it. I'll scan the VLC forums and see if there is anything there, but I'm not exactly losing sleep over VLC not playing videos correctly...
PotPlayer? It's proprietary.
Haven't even used SpeedFan in years, so shouldn't have even commented there on it.
Maybe was one or two too many beers involved at posting time originally.
