All had similar numbers, Vlad's high batting average, superior defensive ability and clutch hitting at the end made him a prime candidate. Either way, don't look too much into the "MVP" award in MLB. Since there are 2 awards (one from each league), it isn't as impressive as the NBA, NHL, or NFL.

Screw the Mets. How the Giants didn't jump on him is beyond me. The hitting duo they would have had would rival Gehrig/Ruth and Mantle/Maris (in '61). It's insane how they didn't dump every free dollar they had on Vladdie.
