Well...I'm building the system as stated in my sig (parts coming in 3 days!!!) so my basic question is...which operating system do I use?
I currently have on hand the following OS's:
Vista Ultimate x64 with SP1
Vista Ultimate x86 with SP1 as a seperate install (vanilla Vista Ultimate to start with)
Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows XP x86 with SP3
My basic question is...which will I get the most out of? Windows XP I know and love...and DX10 really isn't that big of a deal...I can live without it for the time being as the only game that I own that REALLY supports DX10 is S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. Crysis not so much as DX10 features can now be enabled through DX9 and runs much faster at that.
Also...is the 4GB RAM not being used still an issue with the x86 version of Vista? I heard that the SP1 solved this issue but at a loss in performance.
I AM A GAMER through and through...so my main concern is gaming performance on each OS. Driver support seems to be quite normal nowadays with Vista x64 and I use no legacy hardware that might not have drivers...so drivers I'm not worried about.
I will be overclocking as well...both CPU and GPU...will I expect a performance/stability issue's from OS to OS?
Anyone that can help make my decision a little easier would be appreciated...right now I'm leaning towards Vista x64 SP1.
