I think his point was that it didn't do the "are you sure you want to hibernate" question.

The thing is, hibernate will not cause you to loose work in progress (thus no confirmation dialog). Shutdown is different in this regard.

<== software engineer ...... you need to know when to use a two step process.

Mouses don't put OSs to sleep, people put OSs to sleep.

I was using 2000 forever. Matter of fact I had to use server on my desktop because when I went quad it would not see more than 2 cores. :|

I have Vista but I do like the classic menu. I love W7 but they took out the classic start menu! For the love of God why???! I thought it was something I was missing but we had an active directory domain policy that forces all computers to behave a certain way upon membership and the XP/Vista machines automatically get classic and W7 did not!

I guess I can adopt just like everyone else. (cough Office 2007 and that shitty ribbon!) But I like choice! It's like they took away my guns! (not holding my breath there either!)

It's not Vista's fault you are a moron.

Yeah, i cannot BELIEVE Vista let you post an OS topic in the off topic forum!
OMG!

It should have asked you if you wanted to post in the wrong forum first! ;)

Better 64bit support, better multi core utilization, pre-fetching, reworked search options (one of the best features in my opinion), easier networking to name a few

No. No. No.

Get a Max & enjoy OSX.

Are you sure you want to shut down?
Sure?

And because we don't trust you with your own damn clicks, we won't shut off for 2 minutes unless you confirm that you can click a mouse.

FFS OP

So you would go into hibernate without saving your work??? If so then you deserve to lose all your stuff.
But you don't lose anything when you enter hibernate.

I agree. I thought for sure Microsoft would include a stop button. How stupid is it to hit the start button to shutdown a pc. craptastic vista!

This pretty much sums it up...add to it the fact that the OP is too dumb to post this rant in the Operating Systems forum...and I wonder if the guy can even walk and chew gum at the same time.

No actually, confirmations suck. If I click something, I obviously wanted to click it, why ask me again?

Make one yourself

Open cmd and type shutdown /a. Or even make a batch file to do it for you and put it on your desktop so you just click to stop your accidental shutdowns.
