I know at UT a few years back (and prolly still) you could get XP Pro for $35, if you were a student. There were also several people selling them on the net for $40, but I don't think that was legal.

I can get xp pro for $5. office 2003 is free.

Academic Alliance. Usually for CS/EE/CE majors. Think MSDN but for students. Its free and nice 🙂

We also get other software like Server 2003, SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005, etc.

i think so. but then I don't really like OS X. I hate not having a taskbar, a start menu, or the ability to maximize a windows.
 
I find it funny that students think their copies of Vista/Office are "free".

Someone is paying your tuition, right?

QFT, I just tried booting Vista and remembered I never got around to doing an "slui -rearm" while I could still get in.
