Got this deal from SP33DFR34K at Slick Deals, and there serveral confirmed reports at Hard Forum of people getting this deal.

The Visiontek Radeon HD3870 512MB Pci-E video card is on sale at Circuit City for $130 no rebates. In store only, this deal is NOT available online.

Circuit City also recently sent out coupons for $15 off $99 so check your mail for those!

I think the HD has better image quality compared to the Nvidia counterpart.

I could live with the slightly slower speed for better IQ

I think the HD3870 is about the same as the 9600GT performance wise. Alot of the 9600GT deals also require rebates.

Is it a GDDR4 card? I only see one visiontek 3870 on their website and newegg, and it's GDDR4 with a nice dual slot cooler. Seems very hot to me.

Buy more ATI or we'll all be buying $700 crappy video cards soon! Don't let them go bankrupt. 😉

They're the same, IIRC.

Well, if you clock them the same they perform the same. One is clocked slightly higher than the other, I forget which.

Thanks. Looks like two 3870's would be cheaper to do, plus the X2 3870 requires a 6pin and 8pin power connectors.

I have a 525W PSU with three 12V rails @ 18A, think that would run two 3870 cards, along with a Q9300 or a Q6600 (G0)? No OC'ing.

It rated at 50C +? If so, then it shouldn't have a problem. If it's rated at 25C and loses 5% every 5*C above that, then no it wont.

the 3870's arent exactly watt hogs. and the 9300 is also based on 45nm process.

if your power supply is a quality unit, even only rated for 525 watt, it shouldn't have any problem with that build.

Thanks. It is the optional 525W PSU in the Dell Precision T3400, so I'm sure it is of high quality.

3870's are rated for 95C+

What would be better, performance-wise? Two 3870 cards in Crossfire, or one X2 3870?

The same. (marginal differences)

Ok, its now time to call the ole "pics or shens" on this deal.

Edit: Seems like its from slickdeals but I don't know of anyone that has gotten in on it 🙁
