It worked fine for me. I saw awesome temps on my 4850 with the Accelero and two 120mm fans.

You don't have to do that, really. Cut the long heatsink that came with your Accelero in pieces ( the one that has 2 screw holes ) and mount those over the voltage regulators. This would be in my opinion the cheapest way to do it.

The normal way is to buy some really good heatsinks for the VRM area, something like these:http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835118220

Thanks - my first post has a link to a guy who had issue with the VRM's after using those Newegg sinks (maybe the tape?). Sawing the Accelero part sounds like an idea worth doing. I see a lot of new non ref cards that dont even seem that concerned with VRM modules so how much trouble could I get in lol?.

He had problems because he thought that he could run the S1 passive. That is a mistake IMO for high TDP cards, like the 4850. No matter what heatsinks you use for the VRM or ram chips, there always has to be a good airflow around them, otherwise they'll overheat.

Actually I was hoping to go passive myself - although using the Accelero fans would not be a problem since I know they are quiet and cheap. I saw the Gigabyte passive 4850 and figured passive was ok.
